Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

How much do you care about this job?

On a scale of 0 (I don't care at all) to 10 (I care a lot about keeping my job here), what would you say?
A I'm asking because it's just amazing to me that even those who are pretty comfortable here say they don't care too much if they lose their job. I'd like to get something better, but until then I can't act like I don't care about my job here.

@3ksx+1n9GfqkE those "expensive" consultants make way less than your loaded salary. If Vz could get away with it, they'd have NO employees at the worker bee level. They'd all be contractors.

I am in the minority but I really like my job even though it can be stressful at times. When we do something great and have a breakthrough it is fun to be a part of. But we have been missing on so many things recently that a change at the top is needed along with getting rid of expensive outside consultants that are there only to make a buck and not a difference. We have so many great people that really do care it seems a shame it gets overshadowed by some top leadership poor business decisions.

I see a lot of “10 for the paycheck” (and honestly feel the same way, it’s the most I’ve made anywhere).

What level and salary are we talking? I have absolutely no reference for what I make, can’t tell if it’s high or low.

10 as I need my paycheck and I don't expect to be paid to do nothing

Who needs a paycheck. Just the thought of working for a company with such brilliant leadership is compensation enough for me.

I’m not going to do anything wrong but I’ve been looking for a while. I do my work correctly and actively try to make sure others know how to do it or automate myself out.

I’d be elated to be let go but the pay for my role is over what I could get out there so I stay. Unlike prior years I’m spending alot of time trying to learn something non- vz because all my day to day experience is worthless except here.

28 years here and you own enough stock to matter did enron and the ensueing regulations to make sure people weren’t strapped to the company with their retirement mean nothing.
Why do you own any stock in the company you work for when everything says not to?

The new July Stock payout announced today pushed it from a 4.5 to a 5 imo

I care a lot. I've put 28 years into this place, and the poor decisions of management are tanking the value of my stock holdings. It's time to get it together and get that stock back to $50.

0-10 scale? Sounds like NPS voodoo dark magic arts.

I would say I’m a 2.

There have been so many layoffs over the years that it’s next to impossible to care anymore. I’ve lost so many good co-workers that I constantly think “is today the day I get laid off?” How do they expect us to feel when they’re always culling the staff?
