Starbucks in on the move...more retail unionization is inevitable

No matter if you like it or not the Starbucks movement to unionize will start an ugly trend for retail workers in this country. As Verizon pushes more responsibility on the reps in the stores and the expectation of slamming to meet goals is enforced its only a matter of time. I hate unions but I predict at least 50-100 stores this year will vote a union in.

“ Once again though Verizon is reactive instead of being proactive “. 100% FACTS. Also whomever mentioned that a lot of tenured reps left Verizon the last few years is dead wrong. Nobody left making $25+ an hour and that’s what most tenured reps average.

Verizon was proactive in stopping this unionization from happening. When they closed stores, went to one team, dual stores, RIS pay, obliterated making money, and cut head counts in 2020. They got most of the tenured and smart people to leave on their own accord.

@3est+1fXFFGwB I agree with most of your statement. It seems that most stores that end up unionizing have very bad leadership teams. Most of the reasoning has been out of spite which is completely understandable if a group wants to make a point. The problem is employees getting satisfaction short term instead of thinking of the long term ramifications. Once again though Verizon is reactive instead of being proactive and it should have never got to a union vote in these stores.

@2eoc+1fXFFGwB- if the union did anything that could be considered remotely positive for employees in NY, no matter how small, the union would be shouting it from the mountain tops. We'd never hear the end of it. If it was beneficial enough, the employees themselves would be bragging about their victory.
Their collective silence is damming.

Verizon says: Go Union and Go Indirect. There is no value in retail anymore. Stores were created to drive growth 20 years ago. Now they are just relics with overpaid clerks.
