Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Those at the top do not know what it means to run a store

The people at the top have no idea what it is to run a store. They are absolutely clueless.
Now we have manager (or the lesser Campus Store Lead) duties to do on top of all the online order pulling, shipping, facing the store, stocking, cashiering, loss prevention, checking in freight, the list goes on and on.
When RUSH hits... people will literally close the doors and walk out. If they haven't already. @hlo+1lMThGH5

I absolutely share the same opinion

I will leave my campus as well as I can. They didn't this to any of us so I will get as much done as possible so they might not suffer as badly as they could. Too many leaving and not sure who will fill those slots. Buyback right at May 1 and grad that weekend. Regional can't cover every graduation and neither can 1 cap and gown rep for their entire area.

I intend to help anyway I can.

You'll only be helping JRC sc--w over you, the school, and the students.

Trying to help make this really cruel plan viable isn't helping anyone except JRC.

Wonder when they are notifying my school that both long term store manager(paycut/demotion offer) and asm (layed off) will be gone as of May 1, a very busy time in our store with regalia, check in of rentals, grad gifts. I am sure my RM or GVP will try and convince them there will be no lack in service. The ASM has confirmed-not staying with Follett. I feel badly for the students.

"They don’t have to pay out sick days, so take advantage. Even if it’s just for a mental health day or day you have explosive diarrhea."

This. Just don't tell them it is a mental health day.

2wxm+1lNK4JHh: I also don't understand being an a--hole to the people who had no control over the situation. These are your co-workers. These aren't new people coming in to take over the position. These are people we've been working with, some for years. I intend to help anyway I can.

@2zuk+1lNK4JHh I don’t think I understand the desire to make things harder for your replacement or inconvenient for your campus and/or customers through mistakes by the replacement. They didn’t do this to us. Show up, help the people around you, get paid, and job search.

If you have to work until May to collect severance, maybe now is the time to be a pest. The worst they can do is fire you, and they already did that.

Email them relentlessly with d-mb questions. “What should I do with this rental return receipt? Has the policy changed?” “I have to use the restroom. Should I leave a sign on the door or just hope no one comes in?”

They don’t have to pay out sick days, so take advantage. Even if it’s just for a mental health day or day you have explosive diarrhea.

Mix in a little bad information to your replacement. Like stuff that could mess them up down the line. But just enough so you can defend yourself later and just say you were confused.

I k ow of several stores that will be empty after May 1. Hope they can hire lots. Those being expected to take Mgr responsibility for the same pay to the devotions and pay cuts coming down that won't stay. Buybacks/rental check ins beginning and graduations right after those last days...good luck to any that stay.

My SM is freaking out. I haven't told them I don't plan on applying for any of those jobs. We are to believe these new jobs will be better? Nope. It's the same job with a new title for less pay and more work. No thanks. Taking my severance and running.

How does this company expect to fill all these positions that people are saying no to because they feel they are being disrespected? Will they go beg the people that they just told they are going to be laid off to apply for these positions? It seems like not a lot of thought went into this plan as far as how the people in the stores would react to it.

Many are taking the severance. I only know of one that is staying.

Too bad no one will quit and leave them to fend for themselves.
