Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

If “ALL” the Other Carriers can do it why can’t we here at Verizon??

Why are surveys attached to the commission structure? If the company makes its money anyways (bad or good experience since the customer ends up keeping Verizon), why do we have to lose our money? Why is there a charge back on Prepaid service(when the customers pays in advance for the service which they’ll receive), why aren’t Area Managers, DOSs still getting paid the way they used to(And yes that’s true & proven) and not even feeling the slightest of the pinch which we all are? All the above Exec level people still drive their luxury cars, live in Mansions VS us struggling to go by & support our families? These r just basic examples, but there are plenty of other things and the list goes on & on. AT&T just won another nice 4 year Orange Contract and all the employees are safe and happier than here. No Union troll here, but why shouldn’t we ALL do it when they need US to keep making them $$$s and we’re losing out Big Time? Now guess what? There’s gonna b the mngmnt team watching it and they’ll say comments like: Oh Union is just waste of money, etc they don't do anything, Blah Blah, Blah, so anyone remember the fight CWA put up against Verizon in NY and some other states for the Wireline Workers? And ueah b4 just saying smthng read up “Facts” and then answer to this post. Back then it was LoMac & he had to give up bcz he didn’t want a bad name in the media abt it & the hose folks won a Good 4 year contract. What does it take to get this Team Commission structure out? We all know Sprint has done it, AT&T stopped (but they used to), bcz the voice actually got heard & b4 it could reach the media so then everyone cud hear abt it, they gave up & got rod of it. The problem is everyone in these unprecedented times is trying to save their jobs so one’s just scared to talk abt it (One bird is better than two in the bushes kinda mentality). We’re getting looted out of our money here folks. We all gotta stand up and unite and gotta fight for our rights b4 its wayyy too late. Wake up Folks & let’s all make it work for us now. Enough is enough!!

Because anything short of going bankrupt, once they are in, they aren't going to let themselves be voted out. Your just another revenue stream to them

Yeah so getting back to the point ... If Unions are so bad then why do the employees of ATT keep them around ?

So all the smarty pants who think Union ain’t nothing, go & check out AT&T’s new 4 year contract which CWA won them. Don’t just be Hans’s apprentices here. Facts speak for themselves and they don’t lie. Commission structure is one of the biggest thing which they fought for & it clearly states that they can’t just change upon the commission structure on employees whenever they want. And just like OP said, one shouldn’t forget 2016 when they did indeed won a great contract for our wireline employees.

Exactly.

Just a union cuck that can't accept the fact that CWA is a failure looking to dip into the pockets of more unsuspecting victims.

Hey looks like you got a few $$$ added to your own Comp Plan (Commissions) for saying this, didn’t you? Make sure you let the managers know, that way you might get a pat on the back along with cookies and biscuits. Now go back to bootlicking.

You’re just a union shill talking out of to a–

A union CANNOT just as easily be voted out as easily as they were voted in. Like another poster on here mentioned, other stores with union representation ARE ON THE SAME COMP PLAN AS EVERYONE ELSE. And all a union can do is REPRESENT you and TRY to negotiate for you. And guess what? CWA is a F—ING JOKE of a union. What value does the Brooklyn store see? They are on the same comp plan as us. A union has 0, ZERO, none, nothing, NO impact on what compensation plan Verizon rolls out.

I’m not in favor of this new compensation plan. The surveys need to be axed and bring back individual accountability and start firing the useless and lazy employees and all the a–holes making fraudulent benefits claims.

You talk like CWA is the messiah, but look at how many AT&T reps left to join Verizon before this pandemic. They spent years failing at accomplishing anything. Look at all of their failures and give me one, ONE example of a success they had. I guarantee Brooklyn is the same.

Get a real job you union cuck, stop trying to stick your hands in the reps pockets with false claims of getting better pay and whatever other fake claims your making.

Actually, the reps in Brooklyn can't vote it out at anytime, it is actually quite difficult. From the NLRB:

Decertification election
Have a union, but don't want it anymore, or want a different one?

Under certain circumstances, you can vote out or "decertify" your union, or replace it with a different union. At least 30% of your coworkers must sign cards or a petition asking the NLRB to conduct an election. Unless a majority of the votes cast in the election are in favor of union representation, the union will be decertified. Such elections are barred, however, for one year following the union's certification by the NLRB. Plus, if your employer and union reach a collective-bargaining agreement, you cannot ask for a decertification election (or an election to bring in another union) during the first three years of that agreement, except during a 30-day "window period." That period begins 90 days and ends 60 days before the agreement expires (120 and 90 days if your employer is a healthcare institution). After a collective-bargaining agreement passes the three-year mark or expires, you may ask for an election to decertify your union or to vote in another union at any time

@1elq+18Wn70aH If having a union is so bad then why does that Brooklyn store still have one ? You do realize a union can be voted out of a store just as easy as it was brought in ? The comments made had nothing to do with changing the ridiculous commission structure but to secure protection for hourly wages and benefits. Unions negotiate contracts that offer these things. Now more then ever before Verizon reps should want this. The employees of that Brooklyn store surely see some value in having the union.

Post from TheLayoff.com

Let’s keep it 100%

You already know the answer. A union won’t do a damn thing about this compensation structure. You wanting to “find out about this union stuff” as you put it... want to find out? Go work for AT&T and let me know how much you like working with CWA leeching off your paycheck.

The union, specifically CWA, will have 0 say on our comp structure. So what will ultimately end up happening if more stores go union? Exactly what is happening now, but just another hand reaching into the employees wallets for a little off the top.

Now, do I agree with this structure? Abso-f—ing-lutely not! But like you mentioned. With the way things are locked down right now if we had the old comp plan, 90% of us wouldn’t be taking home anything. What Verizon SHOULD have done is mobilize the workforce we DO HAVE and start taking in-bound sales calls, and pay the reps some sort of spiff or a split compensation for working in-store and a separate comp plan for WFH.

We’re almost a year in to the pandemic, and this billion dollar corporation can’t even deploy the labor it has at its disposal to do something productive. That’s either incompetence or willful neglect and disregard for the employees well being and the shareholders (that’s us too btw!)

And for f—s sake will someone start auditing the BrightHorizons fraud already?? I know there’s employees or couples for that matter that are easily taking home an extra $2k a month that have 100% not had any financial burden over what’s happened throughout the year.

Simple answer. Brooklyn has a union (CWA) and is on the exact same comp plan as you. Except the union gets paid out of every check the rep gets. So who won there?

I will get to unions in a second but let’s talk about your first sentence. I agree survey scores should have nothing to do with our commission pay out. Several years ago Verizon tried to incorporate surveys into quarterly bonuses ( memba that ?) and ended up catching a lot of heat from it. Plain and simple it didn’t work. The problem is given our current team commission structure if they took surveys out of the mix what would they replace them with ? You do realize that if the pay out was solely based on quotas most stores would have barely made a check the last 3 months. On to unions....

So I know several employees that agree that a union seems to make the most sense in the current climate. Those that wish to stay on and embrace the new team thingy are worried about changes to hourly pay structure going forward. Will we be bullied or forced into dropping our hours? Can a union help us keep what we have so we don’t continue to lose benefits and job security? I don’t know. What I do know is that a lot of us would like to find out about a lot of this union stuff but want to keep it anonymous. We just don’t know where exactly to inquire about it without drawing attention to ourselves.
