Previous to accepting my telesales role I was a heavy hitter at the retail store. Typically I made those big 3-4K checks month after month. As expected leadership changed the commission plan and It was time to make some big decisions. Could I still work in retail making 30-40% less with the same job expectations ? No. How could that be possible? However after being in Telesales I regret my decision. My decision was purely based on communication from leadership that the big money could still be made working from home. It would be a grind they said but this job has mentally worn me out. Contrary to popular belief is that every call ends up being an easy sale. WRONG. Half the calls have to be redirected and those that may end up being a sale require a lot of huffing and puffing. With all this said my December commission check was just shy of 1,200. One call after another ...after another ... I mean true it’s not a physically hard job and it does have a few pros but the cons outweigh them. BTW I have a new schedule for the next six months 10am- 7pm Sunday’s and Monday’s off.

Instead of moving to telesales you should have moved to care. It’s really easy
The fact of the matter is Verizon will NEVER EVER pay their employees as much commission like they use to. And for those people who sit around and complain about it - trying to figure it out - keep trying lol - it’s not gonna happen. EVER. Those days are long gone. Communication market is saturated, not much room to truly grow from a connection piece standpoint. It’s a switcher game/LNP is what’s looked at therefore there’s no incentive to pay you crazy money. Keeping customers is king (without talking about the survey of course......haha)
This is my first month of telesales and I’m hoping to get a big commission check. Having a set schedule is great and I’m so glad I got out of the store. Days off are Thursday and Saturday but there’s always OT available on Saturday . Telesales is 1000% better than the store
@2tis+18J2wQs1 You kind of made the OP’s point that it’s virtually impossible to windfall and make the big checks unless you work 6 days and 12 hour shifts. That’s just not realistic and honestly the OT will not always be there. The heavy hitters in retail were able to windfall working 5 days a week 40 hours and still have a life. Also, the retail stores have evolved during covid in that there is a lot less tech let in the door. Most of that is now appointment based and setting up a customers phone in store is like a quarter of what it use to be. Team commissions is averaging 1-1.5k in most stores but I don’t see it being an ideal pay plan if Verizon ever wants to drive sales in the retail stores again.
I also went from retail to telesales, I can say if you put in the work and overtime you can easily make over 3k comission check last month was my first month selling, I dint do any overtime and I did right around $1,800 that’s me not doing any overtime , however I have a team member who worked 12 hours a day 6 days a week and he made over 4K comission after windfall of course. With that being said yes there is still money to be made in telesales you just have to put some work. For all the people that are complaining that there is no money to be made In telesales they are probably taking too long with 1 customer .
Is telesales better than retail store ? In my opinion yes it is 100% I rather be doing sales transactions than helping someone out resetting their Apple ID password for 30 minutes, or going over their bill in the store were upgrades don’t pay you at all .
No one is making 3k in telesales. That is a complete fabrication
There is no way you were a heavy hitter in the store. If you can’t make money in telesales in December then you just s— at sales. No offense but it’s not for you. You couldn’t not make money in December. Quota was a joke, the calls were constant. Overtime was just about unlimited. You made $1200. You are just really bad at your job. Telesales was the greatest thing to happen in 2021. Is telesales a grind? No doubt. When you hit a 2.0 and 450% bucket it 3 weeks that last week is no doubt a grind. But you get through it. You take that $5000 check and move on to the next month. Lmao. Complaining cause you s— at your job
When Verizon offered retail store employees telesales roles they had two intentions. They needed additional staffing as quick as possible on the phones and to reduce 40 hour FT positions in the stores. So they k–led two birds with one stone. I am currently a Telesales supervisor and will say the OP is pretty accurate in the info he/she has posted. I have a really good team and will tell you not one of them made over a $1500 check for December. It’s definitely not a job for everyone and based on feedback most of the retail crossover reps don’t like it. Telesales is a different beast then working in a store. We have definitely slowed down on the sales calls and I don’t see us hiring anyone new for a long time. I know that a few dozen retail implants have already left the role in the last month or two.
I got mates that went TS or CS. They love it and tell me if it happens again take it. It must be a your mileage may vary type situation. Nice to hear about yours though.
You’re insane if you think telesales is the wrong route vs retail. No offense. I would do just about anything to be able to go back and remake my decision and go to telesales. I have friends that switched and are making 3-4K while in retail I’m driving to the same job as I used to making way less money with a much lower morale than ever before. Trust me you made the right choice, especially having a set schedule.
