Disappointed in HR

I am very disappointed. I have a problem with a manager who, for some unknown reason, harbors some kind of animosity towards me. I asked colleagues how they see the whole situation and people confirmed to me that I am not imagining and exaggerating. This animosity is real and I think it is unreasonable because I have always done my job conscientiously and tried to give my best. Since this has been going on for a while, I decided to turn to HR. The result of that is that nothing was resolved. Now I wonder if addressing it with HR was a mistake?

Had the same issue and was fired as well for speaking up. Probably same old bag leader I had. I hope she’s fired soon. Heard things weren’t going well lol. After I left I spoke my peace about her a-s

Unfortunately, HR only works on the side of the managers. You can rest assured that there will be retaliation against you so get ready. That's how it works here. I complained about my leader along with two others for sure and instead of the issue being corrected, she got a promotion to Associate Director. I later got terminated as my position was no longer needed; I was told I out developed myself for the role. WTF? Anyway, I got my severance and will get my AIP, so hats off to me.

Be careful and watch your back. Humana is only concerned about the almighty $$$.

Math may be wrong, but I’m employed, getting my AIP and raises….and I divert all I can into the 401k….didn’t really need a math lesson, the point of the post was raises and AIP add up, and are possible….but, thank you for your negative slam on my view. While your statistics on cost of living are very educational, the point was yearly increases are doable. Whatever the math is, my salary is $17,000 more than when I started, and since they started AIP, my bonuses have totaled over the past few years over $10,000…and yes, I’m aware, merry sunshine, that bonuses, star awards and whatnot are taxed at a higher rate….and that there is a max to the 401k. I’m doing better than when I started, I live under my means, and I just wanted to say there was some positives in the system….but, your judgment of me to discredit me? To stir up more discontent? That’s not needed. Getting bonuses and raises are possible, they do add up, bottom line.

Hmmm not sure your math is quite right SNP CM. If you're getting 4-6% raises for 5 years you should be getting 20-30% more than when you started. Sounds like you're really averaging 3% if you're
only making 15% more than when you started. The consumer price index rose 6.8 % from Nov 2020 to Nov 2021. Energy prices rose 33.3% and food prices increased 6.1%. So it doesn't sound like you're even breaking even, more like you're going backwards. According to Forbes you need 6-10% increase to stay even or come out a little ahead. But great that you're happy with 3% increase and twisty turny wow points that might or might not happen. I'd really rather get paid a normal paycheck that I can count on than hope that humana will maybe give out a decent AIP this year. Also bonuses are considered supplemental income by the IRS and taxed at 22% flat rate so trying to shift that to your 401k might not work out so well especially if you're already maxing out your 401k.

No, I’m not a fake poster…and I’m here like everyone else, looking for information about RIFs. And, yes, I have gotten those amounts….I know of many others who have also, we aren’t unicorns, being exceptionally rated is hard to do, and maintain, and only a few on each team are…trust me, we don’t discuss it, because of the reaction from others…but, we are there…ask at your mid year evaluation what you need to do to be rated exceptional by the end of the year, and try for those goals.

SNP CM?? you will be next to be RIF. If you are so happy then why are you posting on layoff.com? No way you got 4-5% raises yearly along with AIP. This is a fake poster.

@2sof+1epTnlsD - I disagree…I have gotten anywhere from 4-6% in raises over the past 5 years, a total of 15% more than when I started…the AIP is tied to your performance, so if you have an exceptional rating, it can be quite high….and, to avoid the taxing of the bonus, divert as much as you can into your 401k, that way you can keep most of it as pre tax dollars…and, people have different degrees, licenses and experience when they start, so seniority has very little to do with some salaries….do your job, do it well, get the exceptional rating and the numbers you see make a difference….while the bonuses don’t get added to your salary amount, your raise does…and, hey, getting 10% of your salary each year, between bonuses and raise? Still a great incentive in this economy. And, before you criticize, I’m a SNP CM. I didn’t swallow the kool aid. I wear pajamas to work, don’t have to deal with traffic, I’m home for my kids when they get home from school…for me, it’s still well worth it. I bust my bu-t, and I’m acknowledged and rewarded for it…and I’m not my coach’s pet, we aren’t friends, but we work together, and I respect that. There are great little perks, like wow points you can get, that can go towards a gift card at Amazon for Christmas presents for people….my wow points were traded in for $200 in gift cards….keep an eye on the hi page for opportunities, contests, drawings, and speak with Charles Schwab about the 401k and the AIP. The raises add up over time…even 3% each year is great!

You're not imagining it, and HR is not on your side. HR works for the company. There's just some bad managers and unfortunately you got one of them.

Humana never give good raises and your manager has very little to do with that. If you are here more than a few years in the same role, your pay is below what it should be. Often new inexperienced people join the company and get paid more than those who have been here and been loyal for many years. This AIP thing is a scam. Keep your annual pay increase low, and buy you off with an incentive which is taxed to the hilt and doesn't go onto your basic....

This happens often. They say they want associates to speak up but when you do, you will be targeted and never get good raises. HR at Humana is disjointed and clueless leaving regional managers to rule the roost.

HR is to protect the company, not you. And, they may have done a resolution you aren’t aware of with your manager. Have you tried speaking with your manager about your concerns?
