Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Employee retention program

Mentioned by someone else in the comments:

“Verizon needs to start an employee retention program before 4th quarter gets here or things are going to even messier. Let’s start with a 20% raise to our hourly and a retention bonus. This type of thing is going on all over in retail stores across the country.”

@2sfk+1biwBsDB That may be correct but I think the OP’s point is that over the past year nearly every retail front line job out there has seen pay increases. It all has to do with employee retention because most stores in the retail industry are short staffed and nobody applying for work. Verizon retail jobs may be glorified clerks but with more responsibilities then a gas station attendant. When do we get our pay increases ?

This isn't a part-time job

The stress and amount of knowledge and information need for this job is not something any part-timer should be signing up for. My current part-timers who are all in school have told me they aren’t interested in memorizing or keeping up with all the changes and new info because they are in school and focused on that. To which I reply, “makes sense”

Verizon doesn't want to retain its employees. They want to sell them all off to indirect , offshore or vendor centers. Why do you think they went part time? Why do you think they just decided to make wfm national? In addition they just stated they will be sending out work desk and chairs to all WFH reps that don't have to be returned if you leave verizon. This has to be completed by the end of this year. They aren't doing it to be nice.

People may think this is funny but the OP is spot on. Convenience stores in my area are so short handed they are hiring on full time starting at 16.00 an hour. The local grocery store chain gave all of its workers retention pay increases and I have read many articles about this happening all over the country. Seeing that Verizon is so understaffed that stores have closed for entire days they must find a solution. People continue to leave but they can’t hire enough to fill the empty spots. Something has to give. Don’t be surprised if you see some sort of retention program.

You’re clerking because on a group commission you are actually a clerk.

This would be great but ain’t no way VzW gonna be nice to retail like this. It’s very clear they aren’t listening to us. Even the directors in my state don’t like the changes.

Not to mention inflation. It isn't going away. It's going to get way worse before it gets better. With current fuel prices it almost cost me money to go to work. The economy is only going to get worse. Prepare

Verizon is gonna need this for sure! Our stores are hurting for people. The only stores that seem to be doing slightly ok is the ones in areas where people have been moving to like Airizona, Florida and Tennesse... in my area we are seeing no traction on this “hiring spree”. So sad! Everyone in our stores in the district and unmotivated and just clerking due to staffing.
