I will bet that with the newest, most contagious, most deadly so far Covid Delta variant infecting people in the USA that the work in the office with all people on board, vaccinated or not vaccinated, will fail within a month. It would probably be OK except for the new India Covid Delta variant now spreading across the USA. Suspect in office Covid infections to begin to occur leaving workers sick (if vaccinated or not) or dying (if not vaccinated).
Hope that is NOT the outcome but as a former scientist, turned programmer, suspect that outcome.
In the next decade there will no doubt be a new mental illness diagnosis, covidafraidicum lunaticism. Specifically, people modifying their entire lives, becoming fascists towards neighbors and family, over fear of a virus with a 99.8% survival rate.
All you losers whining about going back to the office are hilarious. If you are worth a d@mn at what you do, you would have opted out and would be working another job now. This isn't unexpected. The return to office has been in the works since June of last year, delayed monthly until they finally pushed it out to September. WF peers are already back at the office. The termination of WFH is also not new. The problem is the job changed and you have zero skills to make the jump. Two other people and I both made the jump. Pay raises, stock options, better benefits, and - wait for it - work from home.

It is rather stark a declaration for a business to force return to office after a succesful year of working, reduced health risk and cost savings. Especially in light of the reduced emissions from traffic, etc for a LEED wannabe.
We just arent a fintech startup. We do not need agile pods or face to face collaboration spread across business units still working like the 1980s. I still dont understand the justification of having flex seating right after a pandemic with an active mutation on the loose.
I have no interest in going back to the office. Wardrobe necessities, gas guzzling, waking up over an hour earlier than now and not being home if the service person needs entry. Sorry, I like it at home. I miss NO ONE from the office.
I'm a smoker and I cough a lot because of it. (Go ahead and shame me, I'm used to it...knowing your wife is a drunk, you have a gambling problem, etc etc.) I'm a slightly neurotic software developer and I like nicotine.
Anyway, I cough.
I'm thinking of a million reasons not to return to the office.
Never got the shot and not going to and have pretty much been maskless the entire pandemic save being forced for a few months to wear one while grocery shopping.
I have no issue in going off on anti-science virtue peeps.
If I have to return, and if my normal cough starts drama, I'm ready to deal with the Karens and Kens.
The difference between me and them is I'll admit what I am, tell you the medical statistics on my nicotine use and admit what is. They'll be emotional to the point of this reality: They are the ones who'd wear a diaper if there was a 1% chance of a blowout.

Your house is also a petri dish. That's why stay at home orders didn't miraculously stop COVID in it's tracks in April of 2020.

@rbd+1bCpamIA. grocery stores or shops like Target and restaurants and even airliners do not notify nor even know if their shoppers are positive. No one concerns about that.
Kick and scream and make excuses, you're going back, like it or not. No one is forcing you, either. You can quit. There are options.
For a place where no one is in the office, I get notified every week that someone in my office tested positive and they are doing deep cleaning, the person is under doctor’s care, etc.
So what would it be if everyone was there? Food for thought, for those of you that bother to get past yourselves.
Not to mention a whole office full of other people.
Sure, everyone wants to go back to normal but it isn’t a normal situation. A misstep in this case can literally ki-l you.

I take it you haven't left your house since March of last year? No trips to germ central...err...Walmart or the grocery store? Hate to break it to you, but the numbers are in, and stay at home didn't reduce the rate of infection, at all. And no, it's not info from "faux news", it's actually data cited by the governor of New York. But yeah, "nice try" to you bro.
People thinking differently about returning to the office, especially notoriously out of touch management, can literally be a threat to them in the context of a global pandemic, but nice try.

People need to get over themselves. Some like to be in the office, some don't. It's a personal preference based on many factors and there is no wrong answer, but many here act like someone thinking differently is a threat to them and lash out in response. It's embarrassing and immature frankly.
Nope don't want your germs or the inane socializing about things that don't matter. Plus don't miss the costs of commuting, lunch, clothing, work gimmee parties etc.....I'll skip it and stay more productive....

Half of us probably won’t be going back, pretty sure they’ll be cutting back significantly before offices open again. Masks are required, how is it possible for anyone to be excited about going back knowing our environment will never be the same?
When you go back to work don’t worry about your wife. We’ll continue to take care off her like we used to before the pandemic. We’ll just have to arrange to make sure we don’t all show up at the same time like last time (she didn’t seem to mind it tho)
I do want to go back 3 or 4 days per week.
