Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

RTP Bust

In a meeting about return to office for 3 days. A VP living in Virginia complained he moved further away from an office during the pandemic. She was saying the commute fixing to be difficult. As long as everybody goes unto the office it should be no problem. If not it'll bust out.

Agree with everyone. Even management wants to work from home because it's so easy to roll out of bed and work and not having to deal with a commuting nightmare. But there are even sc-mmier reason why they want everyone back into the office. 1. Force them to quit without severance or unemployment. 2. If you work in any of the 11 states listed in thr link below, Capone has to pay for remote cost reimbursement such as your monthly Internet cost. Capone has been flagrantly denying employees in those states remote reimbursement costs which are mandatory. Even during hybrid work they are legally obligated to pay you even if you work home a few times a week. They are already in violation of labor laws across the country. It's apparent they want to enforce work office requirements fir in office 5 days a week, so remove the legal liability for enforcing hybrid work, period.

Capone steals from their own customers AND employees.

I hope to see everyone in the office next week. It’s the ultimate stress test. It will break and leadership will have to adjust expectations.

It’s annoying that we will have to clear our desks at the end of the day. That tells me RTO isn’t set in stone. Packing and unpacking my entire workstation is a drain.

In good news, I hope everyone shares the sense of connection that the majority of us feel this way.

The VPs and up don't want to go into the office because of their commute. As long as they do its all right I guess.

There is NEVER going to be a perfect RTO scenario. I don't know why CEOs and VPs are trying to stuff a square in a circle. It is hilarious watching them try it. How many factors do they need to overcome to have that perfect everybody on the same cross-functional team in same building at same day/ time ? It just cannot be done anymore. I predicted years ago, people are not going to want to go into an urban office, especially where C1 built their new HQ building. Who can afford housing prices in these areas now ? In the old old days, companies would offer re-locate packages- ha you never hear that anymore. And every time they re-org departments, you often end up with groups from different parts of the country or offshore. I've had senior VPs and Sr. managers , mind you who ended up with teams scattered all over the country and tried to get their reports to "go in the office" ( just to get that badge swiped) yet they didn't. If anyone can't see the hypocrisy there. Unless they started all over from scratch, never had re-orgs, it would work. They created their own problem trying to force this. Their time would be better spent adapting and being creative to make remote work and disperse teams even more productive than they are.

Feeding off the last posters comment, excellent idea! Ban the use of Zoom while on the floor working, if you use Zoom it has to be in a private office. I go into the office 1-2 days a week right now and when I've had people around me on Zoom calls while I'm on a Zoom call (especially the same call) it's a nightmare, we both echo each other on the call because the mic's pick up the background noise, it's terrible!

I agree the team that works together should cohabitate and zoom should be banned for three days all meetings to be held in person, go all the way, the middle path does not work, have the top management at the same location where their teams are, that is how it used be in the old days if we really want to get the feel of in person working. Having your VPs, Directors, Senior Directors, Senior Managers and Manager call in to a meeting whereas the team members are in office is not right. I know many workplaces are going back to pre Covid time and that is fine at least they are clear and employees can decide what they want to do. Anyways I feel most of the devs have second jobs as they are never available on slack.

Makes sense to force the high paying people out. Those that are low wage such as customer service teams I agree should work remote. It's the major perk. But it's ridiculous to have people on teams in different time zones to go to local office and zoom and slack with one another.

It also appears that high percentage of almost all non-exempt employees remaining have been designated as a work at home role. It also appears that they are pushing the hybrid approach towards the majority of exempt employees. Again make the rule for all across the board. It makes no sense to have a team that is remote but you are in office and vice versa have a manager in another state that is remote and the team has to come into the office because they would still be communicating the same way as always during the pandemic. And that is of course by ZOOM.

I agree the desks are in open cubicles and not enough of them. There aren't enough monitors or keyboards or peripherals to hook up computers. With no cubicle walls there is no sound proofing to block out all the zoom calls going around you.

Yes sewage overflow could be an issue, but I think the major issue would be to have desk for everyone and be able to provide meeting spaces as everybody loves meetings in C1

I'm concerned some satellite locations have plumbing that hasn't been put to the test for years. This could lead to a sewage overflow when everyone uses the toilets and urinals all of a sudden.

What about Directors, Senior Director and VP they hired from West Coast, if they are given concession of WFH, it should be given to all, either make HYBRID for all or let employees decide, HR cannot take the decision as who gets to WFH or come to office. This is just a ploy to force employees to resign.
