No comment from AT&T. Fox business, MSNBC reporting today that various banks are reporting T will offload DTV very soon. ..possibly merging with Dish, other scenarios / offers being discussed.
There goes my $10 a month TV. Sigh.

@2kcx
I know plenty of DIRECTV people who got retention bonuses. I was one of them.
They will make adjustments if necessary. That's what great management do. Continue to improve. Continue to be great.
@2zxy, @2tfl
they had to cancel the billing migration because the customer churn rate shot through the roof when the bill stopped coming from directv and start coming from at&t
@2tlf: correct, they are not renewing the leases on those data centers and therefore will not even allow a VM rebuild to occur there if one goes down.
For what is worth, there is NO investment in DTV data centers. They are barely maintaining the server and storage, and infrastructure equipment there.
@1jrx
"DirecTV is great. Being owned by AT&T made it even better. The future of AT&T an DirecTV is looking very bright. Discussion are even better to make things even more great".
Dude, your schtick on every single post is getting old. Not clever, nor funny. Try harder. Bring something to the table.
DTV employees got $$$$$ as retention bonuses
I know/knew dozens of DTV employees and none of them got any kind of retention bonus to stay
DirecTV is great. Being owned by AT&T made it even better. The future of AT&T an DirecTV is looking very bright. Discussion are even better to make things even more great.
Why so angry? Guessing you work at DirecTV. I'm sorry we screwed up your company. It's what we do.
Re: whether it's news or not...they broke in on a newscast to discuss it. Yes, it was lacking detail. But I don't see why it's so hard to believe what was said, that bankers and venture capitalists are floating various deals. I feel confident DirectTV will be sold or spun off in the next few months. Lots of transformational change coming.
Getting rid of DTV and the high-paid, big ego, useless, VPs, SVPs (i.e. Henry Derovanisian, Connie Goshgarian, and a bunch of other losers) would be the best thing for AT&T. I also hope Stankey the architect of this poor acquisition pays for this. He made the company lose billions of $. What a waste. The challenge who will buy a rapidly declining business?
Randall who engineered the deal did not suffer any losses in bank account or compensation as a result of this blunder!!
Funny ... two days after this so-called "breaking news" and still there isn't a single report about it on any news service whatsoever. Go ahead, do a google news search of "directv sale" and see what you get.
What the OP thought was breaking news was, in fact, nothing but a bunch of mental mas—ation by some bankers who wondered what if, maybe, possibly, potentially, and might be. It was nothing but speculation and opinion.
Would it make sense for att to get rid of dtv? Possibly. But there is also an argument to keep it. At this point it's all pissing in the wind, anyway.
The really sad thing is that people are so gullible and ignorant that they can't tell opinion from news, or speculation from fact. Get a grip. As of right now there is absolutely NO legitimate reason to suspect dtv will be sold. Sure, it might, but there isn't any actual fact or news about it.
Honestly, there are some real chumps out there.
Dish will probably buy, but not at the asking price. Dish is probably familiar with the company's situation and will more than likely use the leverage. And, just like with Tmobile, att will be successful at build a competitor's ability to surpass. Regardless, it is a loose/loose for att any way you look at it.
If AT&T sells DTV the content acquisition cost per customer on AT&T TV (or whatever it’s called this week) and what remains of Uverse goes up. In addition it helps with cash flow..I won’t be so sure it gets sold so quickly.
Another strategic acquisition turn non strategic assert on the selling block.
@1wlp+153JzXcu ... good point realizing T will sell it for cheap, i stand corrected !
“AT&T would love to sell Direct TV, but nobody is dumb enough to buy it“
You’re failing to realize it’s going to be sold on the cheap. Makes sense for someone like Dish. Eliminates their competition in that space. And, they’re building a wireless network.

AT&T would love to sell Direct TV, but nobody is dumb enough to buy it
DirecTV will be great if AT&T sells it. It will be great is AT&T keeps it. It will be one of the best TV products ever since the existence of TV. People will watch DirecTV and just say "wow".
I can't believe those of you simple that you cannot fathom that offloading DirecTV is almost a necessity at this point. Or those of you that think it's completely made up because it was reported on Fox Business today. DirectTV will be gone by the end of this year, you can bet the farm on that. This is exactly the kind of thing the shareholders are looking for. It is widely recognized by everyone in the industry that acquiring DTV at $49B was a colossal mistake. Time to recognize that, cut your losses, and move on.
It makes perfect sense for Directv & Dishnetwork to merge. Sirius & XM merged so that satellite radio could stay alive. At&t will have to sell Directv so they can merge. I'm certain there are discussions going on about it.
Hilarious! A small bit that is about some bankers speculating of what att might do with dtv if things go a certain way in a certain time with certain conditions is now suddenly a solid source. The OP needs to check himself. Maybe he can take some hydrozychloroquine to clear his head.
What a joke.
@oqf: ... says the guy who thinks False news is real. LOL
Sorry buddy it’s not fake news it was on Fox News, About a five minute story about it! Makes perfect sense DIRECTV is a boat anchor needs to be thrown out to sea!
Charlie Gasparino said he heard from his cousins ex-sister-in-law that bankers were saying T should sell Direct. He’s been saying that for some time now and maybe hoping that someday he can say he broke the news.
I call BS. There is NO report in any media about this at all. It seems more speculation and rumor and trolling. If there were even an ounce of reality there would be something on a source other than False news.
Straight from the bankers DIRECTV going to be sold to dish network! Probably half of what they bought it for! Another huge Randall screwup and he got paid for it!!
they succeeded at destroying the competition so now they will throw it to the gutter. good job randy and stank!
lets face it, they don't have any idea what s goung on, didn't Stinky said Directv was integral part of AT&T'S future?
CLUE.....
A: CASH STRAPPED COMPANY, but dont tell anyibe, LMAo
Makes sense if you are going the streaming route!
Ahjahahaha heee hee ha wah hahahahaha hee hee wahhaha,
lucky if they get half of the
49billion rigged deal to take a, competitor out of business, welcome to the swamp, Stinky cesspool lives.

OP here....have not seen anything online yet but they broke in on Fox Business, and spent about 5 minutes on the story...not making it up
Link to breaking news?
And this is the type of "vision" and strategic move that gets you $274K a month for life (from https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/24/outgoing-att-ceo-randall-stephenson-leaves-behind-a-checkered-tenure.html )
" AT&T’s acquisition of DirecTV has also been a “disaster,” according to Moffett, who estimated DirecTV is worth less than half of the near $50 billion AT&T paid for it in 2015. AT&T misjudged the pace of how many satellite TV customers would ditch their traditional pay-TV service for so-called “over the top” internet video options. Stephenson and incoming CEO John Stankey have actually leaned into this in recent years, including rolling out AT&T TV this year, which purposefully eliminates satellite installation. AT&T lost more than 4 million customers from its satellite, wireline and linear streaming-TV services in 2019, from 24.5 million to 20.4 million. Those losses have continued in 2020, announcing another 897,000 premium TV subscriber losses in the first quarter of this year".
Yet another company T ruined in the usual way...
