Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

How busy are you?

Some people here are totally exhausted. I personally feel like I do enough work for several people. At the same time, I know some do almost nothing. And unfortunately, I think more and more people are doing nothing and pushing all the work on the hard working people who are the least valued here.

"Funny because I laugh at the wage slaves that think wasting their lives for a corporation is commendable.

I work to live, you live to work."

Wrong. Sure, there are some people to get a charge out of working 50+ hours a week and almost every night and weekend. They wear it as a badge of "honor". The others would like to work less, but know if they told their boss and project leads they were only going to put in 40 hours a week, they'd be in HR by the end of the day to discuss their "insubordination". That would happen at any company. To suggest they wouldn't be written up is just silly. A lot of those same people are hesitant to leave the company, rightly concerned that it might be just as bad somewhere else. I finally did leave. It's now a rare week where I put in more than 40 hours.

Working hard. Brand new rose bushes planted, huge garden and started kitchen renovation. Yes …all “on the clock”. FISERV bled me dry in years past … not any more

I work to live, you live to work. Lord knows the collective bargaining power of workers has been in a free fall since the 1970s, and attitudes like yours don't help.

I get my assigned work done on Monday and then hose around on personal interests for the rest of the week. It makes me feel good knowing I am sticking it to Frank-the-clown. Knowing there is absolutely nothing he can do about it gives me warm fuzzies. If/when the "50% WFH" thing is official, I will kick up the hosing-around into high gear.

@1mwj it doesn't play out that way. People 'pretend' to be busy which is easy to do when your management is focused on badge scans instead of the actual work.

I really chuckle at those who claim that they put in their 40 hours/week and walk out the door. While I was employed there, I worked with many people on many projects and never met anyone who tried pulling that off. I sure as heck did not. If I had told a project manager, "Sorry I can't help you this weekend. I've already done my 40 for the week", that little tidbit would've been up and down the pertinent management chains before I hung up the phone.

Oh, people are valued here? When did that start because I've been here 30+ and don't see it? I see people being treated pretty disrespectfully as humans in general. But, I don't own the company, I just work here. Planned out my retirement and leaving at some point this year and on my terms. Fiserv, prior to FD, gave me a good life and many friends. I don't want to hate the place when I leave nor think of it as a waste of my talents. Best of luck to those staying. I respect that in the current environment.
