Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Jan. 2022 will be the end of WFH

Heard it on good authority that come January 2022 everyone will have to return to the office, no exemptions will be allowed. HR is working on the details and will announce the RTO in November. The decision has been made!

Well in our Monday morning call the question was asked to the manager. The manager said expect to be back into the office within the first quarter of next year for sure.

See Ya!

Well to be very honest I think this applies to 98% of the post here. I think just about every posting here is from maybe 3 or 4 people. From time to time you get someone like me making a comment. To be even more honest about it I think of those 3 or 4 people most of them are paid to post shills.

I read these boards as shear entertainment. 98% of what is posted here is just trash from the paid to post shills. It's rather amusing to read quite frankly, like a comic strip.

IMHO

@4qoo+1cHde1ZQ This guy is probably manipulating the vote in order to justify his ‘I need to save America’ mentality. Pathetic and lonely old person! You’re not saving America by arguing against Work From Home. Real winners we got here.

@4bhg+1cHde1ZQ You clearly live inside your own bubble and never peak out of your ho-e it would seem. When you ram things down peoples throats year after year after year and against the will of the people like what is going on these days you will have a divorce. It's going on in Europe right as I type this, right now you knuckle-head and it happened before in the USA. If forcing people to comply to the whims of whatever the fed's demand is good at the moment and your massive employer demands play along, there will be a divorce at some point. I think that is what the poster was trying to get at! So don't kid yourself Jack. We are going back to the office if vaccines for all is mandate. If you think otherwise it's because you still have your head in the sand.

You said: "How the heck do you compare Work From Home and the USA breaking apart? Your analysis is like cancer and literally the worst thing I’ve ever read!"

The logical reason to keep people WFH at least some of the time is then they don't have to pay for as much office space. They are looking to save money any way possible. If they can have everyone in the big offices in NJ, Tx, Ga and not have to pay for small offices because everyone comes in half the time and they can have twice as many people there they'll be considering it.

YEP! I would say once Biden signs his BS mandate the OP is correct, we will all be back in the office by the beginning of next year. If 100% of VZ workforce gets the jab then logically there is no reason to keep workers out of the office.

I find it rather amusing that so many posters trashed the OP! Well given what just happened with the dictator Biden and his mandate I think the OP is dead ON!

I am vaxed, my choice and I don't believe in mandates. This country is becoming more and more divided and our freedoms are being removed one by one. I am glad I live in a State that is fighting back. Firmly believe within my children's life time the USA will break apart. This can't continue this way. Just look across the pond, the UK bounced out because of the same kinds of oppression that is now going on here. I don't think there will be a civil war, I just think 30 States will decide they had enough and walk away and form another USA where the current US constitution is the law of the land.

Except, no. It's 100% department by department and, of course, will depend on which COVID variant is going on.
Also, it's up to directors as well. My govt. sales director has said we're all permanent WAH regardless of the policy, so...
Just hoping they don't take our car stipend...

The COVID pandemic has changed WFH forever, you now have call center reps that work exclusively from home, Hybrid depts that work from both home and office set days were given sit down/standup desks courtesy of Verizon. Verizon is a supporter of green enviroment which WFH helps as well as heating, water, building maintenance and all associated. Your attendance is better, getting people to work OT is easier and morale has been boosted.

I am a manager and I have told my DR's WFH will go away once the mask mandates are lifted again. It was not long ago I had 100% of my DR's in the office then comes Delta which will burn itself out in a few months and my DR's will be back in the office again. January or Feb is a good target and I would suspect most of us will be back in the office by then.

This is why this board has gone downhill - People whining, being mean to others, and lying.

1 - I work in management on the wireless side. I work in IT. I am partnered with my counterpart on the old wireline side. I'm involved with Real Estate and site management.
2 - This is not true. This is not happening. Period.

Don't make things up for attention. Don't do things to be entertained by drama. If you don't like your job, leave. It's that simple. Either appreciate the fact that you have a paying job; or, have the courage to make a positive change in your life.

real estate is working on unloading buildings as we speak. Why do you think network buildings were designated hubs to work at?? Building will have leases terminated and some sold. Rto may be for sales and other critical functions but others, no. This way of working is here to stay. As long as their variants keep popping up.

It's BS. Vz will continue to follow guidelines just like they have been. When cases start declining again, they'll move forward with RTO. Could that be January? Possibly, but not probably.

@1thu+1cHde1ZQ You are clueless and a fool!

Average cost per square foot of office space = about $55 across the USA, some much lower and some about double that. But on average $55.

Average space occupied by the average office worker is 125 Square Feet. That works out to an average cost across the USA of $6,875 per employee per month.

Your little home office pails in comparison to what Verizon is paying for employee office space that is not being used. What did Verizon spend to outfit your home office, $2000 MAX and a one time deal! Um! Um! Um! at that rate Verizon is bleeding money to have you at home!

Get real man!

So they let us all order a few grand in desks and chairs and equipment to wfh and they will stop it. When did this place ever spend money it didn't have too. Sorry but this will be going on for a few years with all the variants.

How much of Covid is present at that time will determine that.

I wonder what they will do with the new format offices where people sit on top of each other with no scope for social distancing
