Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Badging Out Required

We got an email that we are now required to badge out at the end of the day, on top of already badging in. In my opinion, this will be a new metric used to excuse any future RIFs and it seems unfair those of us who provide weekend and off-hours support. I am hopeful that most of us have management who will go to bat for us, but I know not all departments do.

Quite frankly (no pun intended), it is demoralizing to see upper management take this approach. Having to badge out to use the restroom is Kafkaesque. Next they will start tracking how much water and coffee we are consuming to ensure we don't use the restroom too many times.

It’s all about Frankencontroller. He probably gets off reading badge reports after he reads these comments

That is ridiculous. I'm just stopping by this page to see how things are going. I am so glad I left back in Sept when they started forcing 3 days a week in the Alpharetta office. Now I regret that I tried to stay on there as long as I did, how stupid was I?

My new job is a complete night and day difference. It's a place that I actually don't mind driving in to occasionally. In fact, I know it sounds weird, but I actually want to go in to the office here, even though it isn't required. Everyone greets everyone else, whether they have met them before or not.

At Fiserv, when I walked through the office, people would not even make eye contact with each other and they would look down at the ground when passing by. Everyone was so cold, as If looking at me was going to cause them more work or something. Such a depressing environment. The fact that the network didn't work for OFD systems didn't help. We used the guest network and VPN, but that would get bogged down by 10 AM, and work was no longer possible in there. The IT department was completely deaf to the problem, thinking that the DNS thing was all that was needed to make it work. Do they still do that cr-p?

Some offices are in shared office buildings with other companies and the bathrooms are in common areas like by the elevators. So you would need to badge out of the Fiserv office to use the bathrooms

Why would you need to badge out to use restroom? AFAIK All of our buildings have indoor plumbing...

Having to commute and pay tolls and doggie daycare is ALL a PAY CUT. It is not right. No 0-1% raise will make up the money I hemmorage every time to go into the office. I was hired as remote 2 yrs ago.

Wahhhhhhhhh I have to go into an office! Life is so hard! Again let go of your ego…sounds like those extremely talented people let go held the company together and left us doomed, but rest assured they will be fine! I mean they were the glue to a billion dollar company! I’m sure they were just overlooked and in no way replaceable…. You’re right thanks for explaining it that way. Enjoy retirement, thank you so much for your hard work and talent I don’t think the word will survive with out you!

To the shill who said "If all this “talent” is leaving when will we see the effects ? "

Well, the effects are ALREADY being seen and will continue until all Premier, Cleartouch, Precision and Signature clients deconvert or sign with a different provider.

Yeah, it will take a few years and I will be long retired by then but this place will burn slowly but albeit, surely.

Cut loose a few more of these people who are KEY personnel not willing to move to the armpit of America and it will move along much quicker!

@2gkv+1lx10piM did you eat a lot of paint chips as a kid?

Your post is worthy of the Billy Madison reply:

Shilly, what you have just said is one of the most insanely id--tic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now d-mber for having listened to it.

All those tools, and you still can't tell if someone is working or not. Total failure of management.

First of all ? What’s your second point? I’m not buying in the c suite… I’m trying to shed a little bit of light to everyone who thinks that this is the worst thing in the world(it’s not, it’s going to an office.) Maybe give it a try without 100% pushback and see how it goes…. Again reminder! you are Gods gift to the company… again you got hired to a 40,000 employee company… if your just finding out you’re not the most important person then I’m sorry. If I were hired remote for a company that had a merger and the sole reason for me signing was working remote, I would probably leave. Not complain on an anonymous message board about doing the bare minimum and signing in. Again… are we going to ignore all of the people that worked remote and took advantage? Take your aim at them. Or do you want to die on the hill of “we’re not lazy!” Ive personally had people on my team and talked to others about countless stories of remote workers taking extreme advantage, and slow down the progress of others. But I’m sure you personally working from home makes up for all of the slackers so you shouldn’t worry about your job, you’re untouchable!!! Lol good luck with your strategies I’m sure complaining and conspiring to do less work is beneficial to all! Instead of just moving on your way…

First of all, :@1khf+1lx10piM, many of us were hired full remote. And many people were forced to be remote when legacy Fiserv closed small offices. This was a practice they spent a decade doing. One, I might add, actually made sense as it was an easy way to lower overhead. At one point, we had several thousand remote workers and functioned much better than we do today, which is clear from retention rates and client satisfaction.

But please, by all means, keep buying the c-suite hype that somehow "remote=lazy". It's not only untrue, it's id--tic. But hey, stupid is as stupid does.

If leadership is in the office why do you think everyone lower on the totem pole should be given a pass ?

They're here because they want to be, not because they have to be. They have the luxury of setting the rules. That's the difference.

The amount of people in this company who think they can’t be replaced is comical. If all this “talent” is leaving when will we see the effects ? Wild to see people complaining about being forced to go to a job you willingly took and can leave at any point like your getting sent to prison… How about you blame all of the people that took advantage of working 2 jobs, neglecting work, waking in and badging out instead of leadership for your cruel punishment of having to be transparent about your work hours. If leadership is in the office why do you think everyone lower on the totem pole should be given a pass ? Maybe think outside of your own situation and you’d realize there is plenty of reasons why this would be important to a company security, safety, productivity.

We had to badge out in Alpharetta pre-covid. But definitely keeping track of who is in the office and who is working remote. Truly it's BS.

This is a trickle down of Frank promising 3,500 jobs to NJ and get the tax break. He proves the numbers by providing the state the badge numbers. My Director stated this on a monthly call.

It did happen sooner. Coral Springs had it for about 6 years and had the same emergency excuse

The emergency/fire excuse for this has got to be the most absurd argument I've ever heard. What companies do this? Come on. There is one reason for this and one reason only. Big brother is watching!

And @vwi+1lx10piM I'm with the other person who responded, I'm not sure where the he11 you were located, but I was in Lincoln for 10 years and I never had to badge out. Even old school ITI didn't require that, and they'd reprimand you for walking on the grass lol.

This place just continues to skip a little further each day.

No company uses such data for the employee's benefit. I know for a fact that the volunteer guides on each floor dont have access to such information. During emergency the swipe out is disabled (thanfully) so there is no way to know

I am 1000% against the back to office that is eliminating enormous amounts of talents across us. However, I can see that the swipe in/out as a benefit in case of an emergency and not know how many are in the office since they are not assigned workstations any longer. I would hope that is what the company is using it.

I am at the Innovation Center and this was required from Day one. There is no way around it - all exits allow one person to exit on swiping a badge

I'm not sure which location you're at Post ID: @vwi+1lx10piM, but we weren't required to badge out of anywhere in our building.

Not sure what the big deal is. For decades before frank badge in and out was required for every entrance and exit. I’m no frank cheerleader but there’s nothing here.

Since the primary/secondary on call pay is out the window I wouldn’t be bothering with off hours and weekend calls.
Frankie boi is welcome to hire staff for off hours.
I just badge in, mark off 8.5 and badge out. Good luck with anything else.

Your manager will go to bat for you, and lose. Once you are on Frank's list, you do not come off of Frank's list until you are on the list of former employees.
