What will happen if productivity takes a huge decline when we rto? Just talking to friends at other places and they said they need to factor in commuting time again when they schedule meetings. So people who could meet straight through from 7am now have unavailable times blocked out for when they are on the train or driving. If you remember how hard it was before wfh getting all the people available for a meeting across time zones it’s going to happen again. Factor in time zone differences and commuting unavailability and meetings will be harder to hold.

That’s on leadership, or on them for not using the tools well enough to judge performance. In most departments productivity has jumped considerably. If your job requires you to be in office, it can easily be automated.
You guys will appreciate RTO in the spring, when all the shorts and halter tops come out.
Let’s talk about productivity. Our LOB has desktop monitoring and reporting showing that our remote employees today are not working as much as we expect them to be. Shocker right? When people abuse work from home and then get caught, it only goes to strengthen the return to Office desire that Sr. Leaders have.

It's not the tech team. It's most often the users stuck in old ways who resist change, managers who resist changes or complain when they come too fast, or having to rely on government or communications between banks that are all using older technology because it's a standard.
If you think that anyone at Wells is going to survive that “fiery rock in the sky is called technology” you really have no idea what dinosaurs our entire technology teams really are.
Banks like ours have no chance of any future beyond selling our parts to Fintechs.

My completed work tripled while WFH. My department had almost 20% more work done as a group. It is so much easier to work when there isn’t any added office BS and distraction.
I heard tech is affected
@1yhq I never did more work just because I was in the office, I just spent more time being bored and unhappy.
Work doesn't magically appear and get done just because I show up someplace else.
I bet you guys are flipping out that you might have to start working more than 30 minutes a day again. Maybe this means our technology systems will actually start working.
We dealt with it before Covid, we’ll deal with it after Covid.

That is what Location Strategy will fix.
Doesn't matter, since RTO doesn't have anything to do with "return to office" or "productivity" or even "collaboration".
RTO is all about creating an environment where people will voluntarily leave, with the intent of eliminating costs associated with severances.
They are probably counting on it.
