Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Not proud to still be working here

I can't wait to find a new job. I doubt that anyone can feel pride in working here anymore?

I am done with being treated horribly. I’m one of the lucky people that live in a difficult employment area and I have applied to many terrible jobs without success. At this rate, I’m going to do everything I can to escape this nightmare. I’ve reached my limit.

I am beyond livid with this job, but I put a lot of phoniness out there. I know this job is a dud.

It's a job not a career. Follett owned by a group of private investors led by Jefferson River Capital, a private investment company controlled by the James family. The James Family doesn't care about you. You can't win. Their focus is making a profit. If you have a stoke and die trying to maintain what your personal expectations are for your performance they could care less. They would move on without a second thought.

My main concern is my reputation. I was hired, long ago, and told my job as head of the store was campus relations-do everything to protect the contract, and then of course everything else that comes along with running a college bookstore. I am the face of the store on this campus, I am the one that is to present a strong operation, deliver, be a showcase to visitors, and fulfill the needs of our students and faculty, and customers. It is me that looks bad that customer service can't be what it was, when we had staff. It is me that the staff that I had/have ask why they are being cut hours and can't pay their bills, or why they are being taken off the schedule. Our sales are good, strong even, so it is hard for "them" to see we are penalized for the entire company. Even though I work very hard I still feel like I am failing.

I am so uninspired to want to continue working here un alone proud to be working for this group! It also shows, that this leadership group doesn't care and are not going to do anything to inspire anyone! Did you notice they are hiring a director of WFM scheduling. In the description of responsibilities - You will be responsible for FHE number 1 variable expense. Hard to be inspired by a group that sees you just as a variable expense!

It's hard to be proud to work for a company/leaders that you do not trust.

I can name several reasons not to trust this company and it's leaders but, the lack of transparency is the proof enough that something is not right and not to trust this company and the so called "leaders"!

To bad we weren't acquired by Francisco Partners like FSS. That's where a a member of the Follett Family still holds a high level executive position. FHEG was the red headed stepchild. James River just wasn't very smart. Unless they wanted to lose money.
