Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

The culture before and after the merger

I don't think it was a small change, but a huge change in the company culture after the merger. This has become an exhausting, toxic place where I no longer want to work. How do you see the change in culture that happened after the merger?

If Truist was in the public eye at all, Kelly King would be widely recognized as the single most dense CEO in history. He bought a company, and then gave the acquired company the combined entity.

Think about it for a minute - that is akin to buying a house from someone, and telling the prior owner they can have their house AND your house for free in 18 months!

I often laugh when thinking about how perplexed the SunTrust executives must have been when Kelly handed out lifesavers candy and then presented his “brilliant” merger plan. You know they were thinking no one can be this $tupid, there has to be a catch somewhere. Well, he is and there wasn’t.

Think about this. Kelly King made a fortune by creating a bank with the absolute worst qualities of both banks - antiquated tech and now poor customer service.

And in case you were missing them, Kelly has now taken to penning his motivational retreads on LinkedIn. It is like he lives in some parallel universe devoid of the reality of what he has done to his employees. What kind of delusion/narcissism must he operate in to actually believe ANYONE respects, or takes him seriously at this point?

VsRp in September here. In a nutshell. HBBT= living in the past due to KK overly tight investment in Lobs. STI staff, d-mbsh9ts who were arrogant. A real toxic mess. Glad I get my pension :)

Speaking as rank-and-file heritage SunTrust, it's more that the purge of BB&T folks doubled our workload and made us realize how toxic everything is.

I think this would depend on which heritage org you came out of. If you're heritage BB&T, then the change is massive and toxic. If you're heritage SunTrust, it's mostly BAU with the minor detail of needing to whip these BB&T id--ts into shape until you can find some way to drive them out of the company. There's a reason why everyone refers to the new company as SunTruist. This was a hostile takeover not a merger of equals.
