Employment Verification for Laid Off folks

I’m curious to hear from folks that have been laid off, that have subsequently found a new job and been through a background check with their new employer. Nike say they will confirm dates of employment and job title, but for me rather than my actual job title it says “terminated worker” which sounds kind of punitive?

If you’re already off the payroll you can check (for free) by registering with “the work number” (a division of Equifax) and requesting to see your data.

Curious to see if this is standard, an admin error, or some gross extra kick on the way out…

Same as @2cpf. It shows "inactive" for my status, and the correct formal title

Were you laid off recently? Mine says "inactive" for a status, lists a former full title, and leaves a blank field for the 'reason for termination'. That's for the first wave of layoffs

I think termination is standard lingo. I wouldn’t worry about it.

The company I was hired by uses a third-party to perform the background check. The official results said Nike demanded a fee to confirm. LOL!
