Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Good Riddance Soon and Good Luck

Late last year when the "site strategy" was announced and I, as a remote, was told to either move to NJ or basically get the h**l out, I was hurt about the approach the company was taking. I was in a position where I was shown the door and after so many years here, it was a slap in the face. But in all honesty, the severance and other actions Fiserv has taken to lessen the blow have been reasonably fair - IF they will keep their word. Mind you, this still IS a layoff - surely the company must have known what the fallout would be.

I'll be leaving later this year and will need to find a new job. It is very doubtful I will match my salary at the next gig and that part sucks. But lately I find myself eagerly awaiting my last day. My anticipation has increased as I see more and more people leave, either because they would not relocate, or they just chose to take a more promising opportunity elsewhere. I wish those leaving the company success in finding a new job they can love, myself included as I am burned out here with this micromanaged mess. To employees staying, I hope those of us pushed out can convey enough knowledge to you that you can support our great clients. Or better yet, I hope we can find you positions at our new companies!

Unfortunately, it may prove to be a tough year for those who remain with so much knowledge walking out the door. Good luck to all!

I was told there would be a severance package and when I left they reneged on the package. Be careful as they could potentially do this with you.

Yeah, we were in FOS and got notice from sr mgmt that our team was 'safe' as remote employees. Nobody believed them and all but one or two people are gone. Who cares. Not my problem any more.

Wow, original poster here dropping back to see responses. I’m shocked by the company’s audacity to say, they ‘saved’ your jobs. A true move of desperation. The thing is, they have already shown how they view their human resources as disposable assets. I believe the damage is done. Employees cannot trust them and even in those departments where jobs were “saved”, I think people will keep their eyes out for an employer that is honest and values its working staff.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I my number one worry is that they try to weasel out of doing what they agreed to do (pay the enhanced severance). Let's face it - paying a bunch of severance will be a significant cost. If that is done, I will still leave at some point – and I’ll probably give notice on my last day :-)

This is my exact worry...some teams were given 12 month notice and we are more than halfway through that. I can see them saying we need more time, or saying you can stay on remote and we'd lose the severance.

They promised our remote people that they were safe. (for reals this time!) Two thirds of them no longer believed their lies.

@2bth+1h4oxC3W Relocation was rescinded for my team as well, but it was too late. Everyone either already left or was in the process of leaving

Good Luck hopefully what happened to me doesn't happen to you. My department was determined to be redundant and no longer necessary so we were given notice. We had staggered departures based on our workload. My date was 3 months from notice, then in 3 months it was extended another 3 months. And again 3 months later it was extended a further 6 months, a full year since I was given original notice. 5 months into the 6 months I found my current job outside the company and was set to start as soon as my time was up at Fiserv (too get that sweet sweet severance). Two weeks before my end date we got a call that our jobs were 'saved' and we should be 'grateful' that we didn't have to go find other jobs and of course our severance packages were no longer applicable. Needless to say I gave 1 day and notice and left; I had another job lined up and without severance after sticking around for a year...not worth being nice and giving 2 weeks notice.

If it fun watching them slowly bend the rules.

First all new hires have to be in NJ. Then they allowed them in Alpharetta. Then the allowed them in any major site. Then they allowed them at any site. Soon they will allow them to hire remote employees.

Then when they can't fill those positions, they will realize how much they screwed themselves.

I’m in the exact same boat as you. At this point I’m counting down the months I have left and eagerly looking forward to finally leaving all the chaos. I find it very ironic those who are being eliminated because of site location are the exact ones the company is relying on to pick up all the slack as a result of those who have already left, the lack of new resources and the new hires who haven’t been able to pick up the full workload yet.

Great post and you will land somewhere better. I was in the same position as you-asked to move or leave. I’m out now and enjoying the big pay day from Frank.
What still gets to me is the inconsistent way this site strategy was applied. You were cooked if your leader followed Frank’s direction but if your leader ignored Frank, you can still work remote nowhere near an office location. Its a joke.

When it comes upon your last days, please review all the documents before you sign. They will try and change the terms of your departure. Dont sign anything until you get what you were promised. HR is a mess and will cut corners. They will get the paperwork to you as late as possible and pressure you to sign.

I do feel for the people choosing to stay. You cant transfer all the knowledge going out the door and these folks are in a horrible position. Not your problem anymore. Move on to better things.
