Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

I started hating my job here

I’ve always wanted to do the job I do. I thought that at Nike I would have the opportunity to learn a lot more about my job and I considered working here a great challenge that will allow me to grow. Quite the opposite. I almost started so despise my job here. I am under so much pressure that I would most like to be able to give a notice tomorrow.

Dealing with Covid isolation has put some at risk people on edge. I don't know if I'm more concerned about @1zxz going back to the office and managing his team with his PTSD or @1yzf with his victim paranoia.
I just know I don't want to be around either of them as they readjust.

@1yzf
Military was YOUR CHOICE. 14 years, huh? If it was that abusive and colleagues were abusing you, you may want to think about why you kept staying.
That's a special kind of mindset. Congrats. Not everyone wants to be a beaten down, soulless robot. You chose to be paid to be abused. That does not make it right ... especially in a civilian corporation.

I'm sorry you had to spend so long in the military, but now it all makes a ton of sense. Nike is trying to preserve a corporate culture that's totally antiquated and based in a command and control structure. That's suited to people like you who accept authority without any question.

It might surprise you that there are many people out there with a completely different set of life experiences and expectations from those who demand their obedience. You have a lot more power than you think you do.

@1zxz

Did you just justify Nike’s culture by saying that no one points weapons at your head and threatens to shoot you? That is your point of reference???!!!

For everyone else, let me point out exhibit A on why Nikes corporate culture has become toxic.

“Well no one is ACTUALLY trying to ki-l you so therefore no matter how you are being treated can’t be all that bad! Why, there are some UN refugee camps in war torn places that are worse”

Good grief?! Do you really think Nike will continue to attract the best and brightest when window lickers such as yourself use Abu Ghraib as their point of reference? Admit it - you eat crayons...

No, @1yzf. It’s not that some of us are “emotionally stunted boot lickers”. It’s that some of us are adults with perspective.

I served 14 years in the military before landing at Nike. So you’ll have to excuse me if I don’t accept the premise that Nike “beats every ounce of humanity” out of anyone or that working at Nike is like “working in helle”. Those are the juvenile rants of highly privileged people who completely lack perspective.

Ever had any Nike colleagues physically as----t you to within an inch of your life while other colleagues stood around and laughed?

Ever had any Nike competitors try to shoot your head off with an AK-47?

Ever had your manager force you to walk 25 miles in freezing weather with 70lbs of product samples on your back, hoping you make it back to Mia Hamm before frostbite sets in?

Did you answer “No” to those 3 questions? You did? Good. That will mean you have not experienced “helle” while working at Nike, nor have you had your humanity stripped from you.

The previous posters were spot on. If working at Nike makes anyone that unhappy they should fix their situation by seeking employment elsewhere. Because that’s what any well-adjusted adult would do.

There are some seriously emotionally stunted boot lickers on this page. It's okay to expect your employer to treat you like a human being. I'm sorry that you've managed to have any ounce of humanity beat out of you.

@1snz and @1qhe, it is people like that help make this place he-l for others. Please, STFU! Do not stop by here if you cannot live what others are saying.

If you’re that unhappy then quit. No one is stopping you.

I swear some of you whine like little kids instead of just doing whatever you need to do to better your personal situation.
