The Hometown store website is gone, but "ownasearsstore.com" is still active. So, did the last person out the door forget to delete this, or is the company still hoping to recruit new franchise owners? With Eddie Lampert in charge, I wouldn't be surprised to see the company continue to drag this out.

I asked this in the A&E thread, but since some might not have seen that, my question is:

So what exactly (in all seriousness), is left of "Sears"?

Someone wrote that all Hometowns are closing. So correct me if I'm wrong, but we are left with 12 large Sears, 5 small ones, 8 Kmarts (including 3 Kmart pharmacies off-Shore), Sears.com/Kmart.com websites, A&E factory service, Sears Home Service, Sears appliance repair, Kenmore, and what all else, exactly?

Not trolling, but genuinely curious. I'm trying to sort out this "tangled web" of Sears, so to Speak. What all, does the name "Sears" include?

For example, I see that Kenmore is owned by Transformco: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenmore_(brand)

Frank, that wasn't my point. Most likely they ARE all closing. But we don't 100% Know that yet. Being 99.99999999999% sure would still not be 100% sure. Maybe they will leave 1 random Hometown open, in the middle of nowhere, just so Eddie can Say they are not ALL closed. Maybe 1 will remain, like Blockbuster video. As for all stores closing, when it happens, I'll believe it.

A baseball team up 20-0 in the 9th inning, with 2 outs has about a 99.999999999999% chance of Winning. But until that last out is recorded, it isn't official. Let's Win the game first, then it's considered complete. When all Hometowns close, then yes, it's 100% proven.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll put it here. You make a fair point. Fair, but we still don't Know for sure if ALL Hometowns are closing, or just some, or most of them. Maybe they just aren't using a central website anymore? Maybe Sears no longer maintains their websites and they have to run their own individual FB sites now?
If even 1 Sears Hometown stays open, then it would be incorrect to state that they are all closing. Just playing devil's advocate here. All signs point to you being right that they are all closing, but that's only about 97% sure for now. As a journalist, I wait for 100% proof before making a claim so I don't have to sheepishly backtrack with egg, on my face, later. Let's not count our chickens until they actually hatch.

See, for example, the 1 Blockbuster store (in Oregon or whatever) is still there, so we cannot correctly state that all Blockbusters are closed. Now we don't Know if this is the case here. All Hometowns, just might very well be closing. Personally, I hope they do. But I just don't have concrete proof yet that ALL are closing.

Again, the franchisees have every right to be upset with Sears ownership. I would be too. But take the word of some disgruntled franchisees with a very large grain of salt.

"We don't yet Know for sure if all Hometowns are closing. Some franchisee claimed on a FB page that "all of them" were closing, but that's not official. We can take the words of a disgruntled Hometown franchisee with a grain of salt. They MIGHT be all closing, they might not be all closing. We just don't Know 100% for sure yet."

Especially since we know that this company is going through the biggest retail transformation in history with the only goal to dominate brick & mortar and online sales in 2023.

Yes, I posted that list just before we learned that Hometown was closing down entirely.

The Searshometown website no longer exists and redirects you to the Sears.com website. Also if you search for specific stores on the sears.com site none of the hometowns come up.

Are the Home Town Stores self- liquidating, now that they have filed bankruptcy?

The hometowns are all closing as well! 12 full line, 3 appliance/mattress, 2 home/life and 8 Kmarts will remain. Total of 25 stores left!
