Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Opinion on new roles/functions?

I just don’t get how they planned this. I personally don’t feel that the role reflects any of my interests or personal growth plan; rather, it's the exact opposite. It just doesn’t make sense at all—it's a complete 180 from what I was doing to this new role. They don’t even share who will be in my team or who my new director is. At least during an interview you have the chance to talk to a person who will be your manager now it’s a surprise.

@1yot+1sSgA5Mp This has always been the case and is why that function has never produced anything meaningful since its inception

In our area, they put a portfolio manager in a data engineer/analyst role. Different skill set. Doesn't make sense.

I don’t want to sound unappreciative, but I wasn't looking forward to what they “proposed” to me. It’s not a question of whether I want to accept; they give me no other option. Either I accept this role I disagree with and have little to no severance. I enjoyed my previous role and wanted to keep it, even if it meant taking on additional tasks. Now, it seems like I have a different role on top of my old one, significantly increasing my workload. I am grateful to have a job, don’t get me wrong, but it feels like I'm back to square one, having to rebuild from there and do things I’m not interested in. Ultimately, I will look for something else, but I hoped this wasn’t how things would turn out. I hope some of you can enjoy it and grow from here.

Because you little minion should only do what you are told to do. Thinking for yourself will only get you fired next round. Let the firm decide what they think is best for you from their Ivory tour and by no means challenge that.

Success profile or IDP were NOT considered for the changes. That is why so many people ended up misplaced.
The company makes us spend so much time in cfe, ipd and others, and then the moment it really matters leaders decide to pick by finger.

That is my biggest gripe about reorgs. Employment IS A TWO WAY street. During the interview process I'm not only deciding on the company but hiring manager, team and position. When a re-org happens without being consulted, the job I accepted isn't the job I have now.

At least they had a job for you, people say. Yeah, that's nice but if it's not what you want or helping your career now you have to find new employment.

I tried to stay when this happened to me last time but I ended up leaving anyways. I wish I was more honest with myself and started looking for a new job sooner.

It ended costing me a lot of salary to be sane and happy.

Best of luck.

The changes so far don’t make any sense to me and I don’t want to wait until 3 August to see the new structure ….
