Well, the good news is the rank and file are unaffected, as of now.
In fact, they talked about ADDING nurses / home health aides.
They do mention that there will be more layoffs coming, but they will be done by fall.
I think they are just clearing out some of the excess management layers.
Makes sense with the risk providers, SNP, and the need to pick up services the PCP isn’t doing. SNP, once again, may be the safest roles.
Are they really hiring or or are they just advertising for the job. I have been here for many years and gone through many layoffs. In the past they would be laying off care managers but the ads would still be out for our positions. Just wondering :)

@1yoi+1iaPi3s4 They don't speak about this but these MSO's and Risk providers who are supposed to offer a better end to end service for the member... They don't. They take the check and don't provide what the members need. The members are restricted from seeing specialists, they have difficulty getting orders for DME or in home services. The Dr's offices have become difficult to deal with, some have centralized phone services making it difficult to reach your Dr's actual office. Humana continues to outsource valued jobs to the Far East and they spout all of their 'community values'. Humana follows it's . They only donate so much money in KY to ensure the state is kept sweet. If you recall when the AETNA deal was going through the idea was to relocate.... They have no loyalty to you, members or KY. Humana has five values $$$$ &$
Who are the core markets struggling due to providers not taking Humana Ins because Humana not paying benefits? Wonder if it’s changes to the provider’s contract or a quality issue on the load side?
The layoffs are part of the $1billion in "value creation" for 2022. If you are considering a role with Humana you should expect it to be short term. The company has missed on Medicare renewals and is struggling in core markets where several providers are no longer accepting Humana insurance because the company is not paying benefits.
The layoff that occurred in June were already reported on and was final 8-8. The 100 today are brand new layoffs
CPSS is consumer and provider services or something like that. CPSS just went through a reorg and some of the senior leaders are retiring. It’s a pretty big org that includes the provide contact center, claims operations and G&A (resolution team).
I think a lot of the 100 that were laid off was in Author. That was sad, but not shocking. 60 days were up for them on 8/8.

I do think CPSS is going to have reductions unfortunately, based on the last town hall.
God knows in our department we are super heavy in management and fluff positions . The basic managers do nothing . We have other positions that are same IPA delegation ? Another do nothing position for one person that does nothing . The frontline staff do the work while others get paid to look busy .
I believe the cuts were mostly on the “Author by Humana” side, since Humana is focusing on Medicare and now whole health. The Healthcare side will continue to grow, as it becomes more of a focus, with more medical positions hired. We were too heavy in senior level and “consultant” positions, anyway.
Humana is lucky to stay alive with baby boomers joining Medicare, but growth was far behind competitors in recent years and commercial business sank lower and lower. CEO needs to be fired: Bad management and poor strategic decision. Hiring process is a joke too.
It has never just been management during layoffs in the past.

I feel like the telephonic care management division will be affected. Everything Humana talks about now is in Reference to home visits. Saw a commercial last night and said Humana discharge members can get a home visit from a nurse and call from a pharmacist.
Any idea whether this would affect junior/associate level employees (analysts, developers, etc.)?
They didn’t say all those 100 positions will be senior-level roles, they said “many”. This is just the beginning. Hold on tight.
It is my hope as well the non salary associates not be included in any layoffs. Especially after forcing so many of us to get vaccinated or be fired.
