Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

The last 2 years and 4 months have been great since I left Verizon Wireless!

I don't miss leaving Verizon, but I do miss my co-workers. I worked with some great people who put up with a lot of cr-p. For 25 years, I was a loyal employee and put up with an increasing amount of cr-p as the years went on. Then I took the "buy out" offered in Oct 2018 and left in March of 2019. 14 Months of pay and benefits, no brainer! Played around for about 4 months and then found a job that is 100% remote (since 2002, they never had offices), unlimited paid time off, and great benefits. $100 a month towards health and wellness, Internet paid for, home office paid for, 401k matching (as well as a percentage automatically put into retirement even if you are not contributing), tuition assistance, $2400 a year towards student loan payoff, etc..., etc..., etc... and the most diverse and employee centric environment I could ever imagine. The only drawback is I took a 20% - 25% pay cut, but thanks to the buyout, I paid off all my debt, so I didn't care. Also, the job and company is so laid back and a joy to work for, the pay cut doesn't matter. Goodbye 52 mile daily commute to work and back, and good by stress and headaches.

So, has anyone else experienced what I have after leaving Verizon?

@1xum+1bHdAjf3 - You are wrong. I work for one of the worlds largest commercial real estate companies and if you make over $100k a year, you get unlimited PTO.

After 10 interviews I haven't seen an estimated target commission lower than $4500. I'll be exiting soon and looking forward to hopefully gaining some happiness back in my life.

Glad thing are working well for you.

You are still working after 25 years? That's sad. I took the buyout. Pulled the 401k. Got a guy to manage that. Saved enough so I don't have to work anymore. Fact I was leaving in 2020. A free year is priceless! Miss my friends. I had a nice job. I enjoyed my work. I'm enjoying retirement!

lots of places have unlimited time off. Imagine this California at will state. You can be fired with out reason. Offer unlimited time off, well are you going to abuse it and just get fired because you aren't contributing or actually doing any or significant work. However you just closed a huge deal and made the company lots of money, you're going to take two weeks off.

LIAR. UNLIMITED time off.... Right. Paid... Right. That place wouldn't be in business.

Yeah similar. VSP paid off the mortgage and still have a ton of $$$ left over. I roll $6K of it each year into my ROTH IRA and work a lower paying but far less stressful job that lets me work remote. Verizon set me up for early retirement probably around 50 so I am just cruising to retirement now.

I gave up on business a long time ago. It’s not worth the little commission loss to have to work with 360. Basically I still get my hourly wage whether I sell business or not, so why put yourself and customer through the aggravation.
