Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Stores that are losing money

I don't understand how my store is still going strong given how poorly managed it is. It would be interesting to know how many stores are actually just losing money.….

@1xir+1m7tYxCL: You may not want to believe it, but it's true. Our SM only runs the register or sits in her office with the door closed with "on a conference call" note on the door. She doesn't pull SODA, stock the sales floor, do billing.. nothing. She won't even fold a damn t-shirt. She leaves piles of "work" for others to do. If she is on a conference call about text returns or something else that requires immediacy, she passes that work on to me or someone else to research and complete. I'm a friggin team lead and don't have access to CARR, CARP, Estore portal. Apparently she was trained at another store and this is what she was taught. 🙄

For the people/person that claims their store manager is now scrambling to learn how to do task that they have not had to do, maybe that is true, but I doubt it. As a SM in a mid size store (but considered a small store under 2mil) I did a lot, but not everything. You can't do everything. I had to learn how to use the new register program last, long after we had it, because I never rang the registers. Yes, I did the training, and yes, I could ring a sale, do a return, etc, but anything out of the norm, had no idea because I used it so infrequently. I am a wiz at so many things/task, but some other staff handled, now I am having to take on all of those, so I do need retraining. I just can't imagine "you" did everthing and your manager did nothing.

@bbj+1m7tYxCL: It's not that people don't want to work. Those of us that have been doing ALL THE WORK in our stores and were laid off are peeved that RMs are expecting us to now teach the highly paid salaried managers (who should have been doing this sh-t all along) how to do THEIR jobs. I actually made a comment to my RM last year about the issue and she told me she would have a chitty chat with my SM and nothing came of it. There are a lot of stores in similar situations. Hire a new SM, don't train them on anything but register and now that sh-t is hitting the fan we are supposed to now rush and teach them everything they need to know? Fck that!

Where are people saying they don’t want to work? Do you mean that they want to be able to take a bathroom break?

I guess we will find out in a couple of weeks if lazy, good for nothin’ employees were to blame or if maybe it’s the ones at the top that are spending all their time trying to gaslight people on this very website.

The big issue is untrained managers that have been allowed to float while their supporting staff does all the work. For some reason they are under the impression they don't have to manage the invoice wizard, shrink busting, house acct set up and billing and the various other store manager duties us peons don't have authorization to do. I was asked today to show the "new" campus leader how to create accounts. She has been with follett 2 years and NOW wants to learn? Gtfoh. I literally have to log in as her to set up anything. If you see this lady... yes I am talking about you! You owe me some of your bonus because without me, you would t be getting one! Shame on you!

Quite a few stores were mismanaged and losing money. Look at some of the comments on other threads, these people are complaining they actually have to work while on the clock. This business would never grow with all the waste of payroll.
