Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike Supply Chain Team

What happened since Sprunk has left? All of a sudden a super diverse team of non athletic supply chain leaders took over and consistently focuses on logistics and knows nothing about footwear manufacturing! No wonder we can’t innovate in footwear anymore.

Venky is a robot with no personality and a small man complex. He is quickly moving footwear manufacturing to India, hmmm I wonder why?

Also, went from Sprunk and his ELT who were focused on building the future leaders of Nike to VA building an ELT that will simply agree with everything he says and focus on having total say over everything versus trusting in the leaders within the organization. Is it a coincidence that we went from a growth company with a strong culture (yes, there were issues that needed to be solved even with that group) to a company that is struggling to maintain market share with a toxic culture throughout the footwear organization in supply chain?

@1wph+1toNM018 - no offense but you clearly don’t understand the magnitude of the SEC deployment. It’s the largest S4 deployment of SAP done ever. It touches almost all aspects of how tech helps the business run. It also has had some incidents (no go-live of this magnitude is ever perfect) so it is causing some minor delays.

Any other go-live and I’d agree with you 100% but this is a whole other beast.

@vnm
My experience with ordering from nike.com has been consistently abysmal. Both times it took 5 business days to get shipment information and at least 10 days in transit. The second time I had forgotten I had placed an order. 15 days from order to deliver has been ridiculous for at least 10 yrs now. While I can understand R&R week and SEC as an employee, I'm absolutely appalled as a consumer.

Why isn’t tech doing what was ‘sold’ to everyone with the last 15 years of tech projects? That is, zero down time go lives. Is of course some, but can be really minimal if design & plan for it. Everything just queues while the downstream system does their code install, then you process the backlog after the 30m max it takes. If HA all the better. Biz shouldn’t be done for a week and stabilizing for months after.

Regarding your .com order, you do realize the DCs were on R&R week and the SEC go live shut down operations for over a week, right?

Does our speed to consumer need to be better? yes. Were there other things happening these last 2 weeks that impacted service? Also yes.

Put an order on .com two weeks ago. Still pending shipping. What a joke

Who cares if we sell uninspiring sneakers! Who cares about competition and athletes! We can now virtue signal to society how morally righteous we are! This was our goal all along, was it not?
