Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Was it worth it being a top performer?

They wouldn’t care if you sold a million a week. When they took away the stipend feb of last year that showed some true colors. I walked away recently. My numbers were off the charts but it doesn’t matter. Remember what I just said it doesn’t matter. A true sales culture properly rewards top performers. It simply was not worth it any longer.

Someone who wrote this on thread +19RhUhVJ seemed to be reading my mind. It’s just not worth the effort, because here it’s not valued. I would love to know that someone’s effort is valued, but I clearly doubt there are a lot of such people here.

with all else aside, lowes doesnt value a good employee. they see you as a resource and a costly one at that. i have a coworker k–ln it in every metric. top 10 regionally every qrtr. he has been given pins, and paper certificates sometimes months after making lowes millions.. yea, they laugh all the way to the bank

@1wnt+19Ud8K6G asked" "What stipend are you referencing here? I ask because I get nothing."

Before the end of Fiscal Year 2011, associates could earn commissions (a kickback from Lowe's profit) and SPIFFs (basically a kickback from the manufacturer) for selling things like major appliances, special order items and so forth.

The company, under the Niblock-Damron regime decided to "help our associates have more regularity in their finances" stopped paying those. What they did was add up all of one's commissions and SPIFFs for 2011, cut that in half and then paid you an allowance each pay period of 1/26th of the 50%. It was promised to be paid for as long as the associate stayed in an hourly position in a Lowe's store.

Marvin did away with it and we lost a lot of knowledgeable, tenured employees.

I’m part time in my department and have the best numbers easily beating the two full timers because they are never in the department.

My main delight, management pretty much leaves me to myself
Only numbers I care about are the digits on my paycheck.
