I'm a specialist who is ranked among the top in my region. But I have an offer doing something else that pays $5-6 more per hour but I'm not thrilled by the job. Would Lowe's match it?

Ask. Can’t hurt anything but your morale. The problem is, as always, that the people who know you do a great job and care about retaining your services, are not the ones in charge of the payroll decisions. Lowe’s aims for the low middle wage setting based on national and market wages for similar positions across the industry. The industry being retail (sales, cashier, stock, or whatever). That industry includes Walmart. Smaller companies are the ones who will pay more, oddly enough. Also in a smaller company your quality work will earn you more recognition and better pay increases going forward. You improved your skills at Lowe’s. Take that learning and get paid for it. It’s time to move on.
no. take it. lowes will say you didnt do that good despite all the figures in their faces
By company policy Nop . Sorry we used pay rate advisor tool at the moment you are hired after that is .50 de year If your performing right
$15 an hour for a specialist is low considering the minimum wage is going to be that nationwide. With all the work specialists have to do, minimum should be $20. My numbers are double of any specialist in my store. I should get top dollar.
Company wants to pay specialists an average of $15 per hour. That has been the trend for a few years. Even if they did pay your more to stay, the expectations for you would be brutal and they will hold you accountable to every metric.
They wouldnt care if you sold a million a week. When they took away the stipend feb of last year that showed some true colors. I walked away recently. My numbers were off the charts but it doesnt matter.Remember what i just said it doesnt matter. A true sales culture properly rewards top performers. It simply was not worth it any longer.
take thye money and run or escape while you can29
Wont be matched. Also, Dont sacrifice your family or free time for a few extra bucks. Life is only lived once and if all you do is work and only look forward to days off then you're doing it wrong.
To give more info, I'm nowhere near the minimum specialist dollars...$24 an hour. Other offer is $60-65k a year. I'm looking to go to that base pay to stay.
SPH bonuses are a joke anyway. No way to ever get the maximum. If it was I'd be at $65k.
I do know of some occasions where this was done, but it involved ASM's that were being recruited by other direct competitors in the same market. Outside of special circumstances like that, I would not expect them to match an offer to retain you.
Yeap you have to quit and reapply. I did and made 3$ per hour. I haven't seen many get a raise to match another offer
Forget it! The more you do, the more they want, the less you get. They'll s— you dry . What you wi get is an "attaboy".
Is it possible? Maybe but NOT very likely. Don't know how long you have been a Specialist or in what department but know numerous long time Specialists that had their pay CUT dramatically after the company reneged on the "Allowance" commitment. Prior to the 2011/2012 Allowance changeover I was easily making 70K a year with commissions. I myself lost over $5 an hour after the Allowance removal and have consistently been in the top rankings of my area for over 10 years. I personally know the #1 ranking Specialist at another store and same for him. MAJOR pay cuts and absolutely NO offset in base pay. Additionally, absolutely NO hope of hitting anything close to max SPH payout under the new bonus system due to systemic out of stocks and SM/DM/corporate orders NOT to sell into the negative (due to being in an XDT market).
Nope!!!!! The end game with Lowe’s now is cut cut cut!!! They are itching to replace you if you make what THEY feel is too much. It doesn’t matter what you make for them. You are not appreciated. I am also always in the top for my area. I’ve been with Lowe’s almost a decade. I asked for a dollar more, a dollar. Why? Because new hires start higher than they did a few years ago. They start them at 18 per hour, when I got the position it was around 16. So I thought it was reasonable. Their response? Quit and reapply. What? I laughed and said, “why so you can hire someone making 5 dollars less, no thanks. Nice try though.”
This really depends on your sales ASM/ store manager, possibly DM. $5-6 seems like a reach unless you’re somehow making the absolute minimum for a specialist. But if your managers value you and are competent in making business profitable decisions(these managers do exist contrary popular narrative) they could possible work something out
They won’t match the new offer.
Stay where you are if you like your job, accept the new offer if you prefer the additional income.
Hell no man they look to cut payroll not add to it .They will bring someone that makes 14 $15 an hour Good luck at your next job
