Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

I miss the “good guys”….

I really and truly wish we could have a do-over when pondering hiring JD as the CEO. I was hopeful for maybe 15 minutes - ok maybe 30 minutes - but we need to bring back the A team - ). EH, ES, TP those were THE great guys.

Thinking back - those guys provided great culture and show what the swoosh was about. Don’t get me wrong — as a strong smart woman they are guys guys, but they understand the culture.

Just my .02!!

@Caar I am not sure that is true, in NDE (prior to global tech merge) I witnessed 3 women go from administrative assistants to director and senior director roles. This was in addition to a number of women in leadership positions wherein they had their own "Girls Club" that worked to promote each other. I could be wrong about the nature of sexism/misogyny at the levels discussed in this thread, but if it existed it was not readily apparent.

How can you say that as a woman?! The good old boys club had to stop. The culture deemed it ok to pay women less then men, ok to give pass them over for promotions and experiences that help pave the way to promotions.

JD seems to not have any idea what's going on in the company as a whole. We have RL creating his own company and creating complete and utter chaos within the teams who are delivering the new "digital" vision.

Marketing has no idea who they lost. Look at their "leadership." These people are ultimately generalists who think presenting others' creative work constitutes as their own.

Fortunate for them, Nike's sell themselves

So many of the great people left and they are so deeply missed…

Go across all key executives roles, or functional experts and the best people are all gone.

Is anyone asking what’s happening in Marketing ? Or it’s ok to keep seeing the best talent leaving every single day?
( plus absolutely everyone knows the real reason why people are leaving… )

@1wcs - I think you need to take your self entitled a** and take the bench. PK is still involved - albeit not completely. MP is still involved but not completely. Don’t stand in your soap box and pretend you know what you’re preaching. It’s people like you that make the original post about “we miss the good guys” so poignant because you fall perfectly in line with JDs vision of being a pr***”.

Cheers!!

@1wob and that man will be: Travis

In 1 year, dusk will be upon our balance sheet, and Knight will rise again, heralding a new future, a new reOrg, and a return to something familiar.

JD is playing a role, you see it clearly in all the latest "puff" pieces he is running.

He is just holding the spot open, while some of the historical turbulence passes, and the stock floats to it's natural GRAT level. Many of the special events, events that no one wanted ruined, new stadium, trials, Osaka Olympics, all have been accomplished.

So McKinsey is steering now, some Board members are failing simple share math ,which is why you see such pronounced 'Ageism", Consultants hate it when experience questions them, and trumps McKinSpeak.

JD will soon move out, a Nike Man will move in, some moves may have been needed, but a Balance will be restored in the Force.

@zrw can you share more? I thought his treatment of women seemed better than MP’s… better in that way…

JD comes across on all hands calls like a super friendly guy (also a used car salesman) but smiley and nice. In real life he’s a colossal pr***!!!

His time at Bain is concerning! From a insider who worked with him. Would be great to see his personnel file..! Horrible ethics and treatment of women. He and his side kick were well known and documented. Pass the trash!! So sorry for the lost Nike culture with JD at the helm!

JD seems like a "Economic hitman" comes into a company Ebay, Servicenow, Nike and starts gutting everything.
