Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

We need a Union!

I need a union to come in and fix our attendance practices. I know supes and managers can’t touch union employees. I’ve had my warning deleted twice and I was put on a final writing warning. It’s wrong. Everything is wrong! It was wrong the last 2 times to.

They won't fire you for attendance. Hr will not support. I have employees who called off all year and wouldn't show up to WFH assignments who never got anything besides a coaching because HR is not gonna approve DA

Okay..

I’m an SM. I’ve watched all the anti-union videos naively and I don’t want to end up like the Brooklyn store. But I also don’t want to lose my job.. Hmm.. Maybe if my GM gets off of one of her calls today and has a few minutes I’ll ask some more questions.

Said no one ever Verizon preaches union fear. And Union reps are generally wolves disguised in sheep’s clothing. Both sides are nefarious by default.

Really there is no good answer. Either get off the pot or p–p about this company. You only get one life. If your miserable now I’d say move on, if you stick around it will only inevitably get worse.

@1vxu+19U2ImP7 - Spoken like a true union dreg.

CWA isn't saving AT&T employees. Just look at their layoff board. All they do is leech off of their paychecks. You say its like being in the ghetto without your sidearm? How about don't live in the ghetto? If Verizon is the ghetto of employers, then quit and find a better job for yourself.

This isn't a communist country my union socialist comrade. You are free to work where you want instead of waiting for your government sponsored, tax payer funded handout.

I am a former VZW Cranberry Woods PA employee. Absolutely VZW needs a union! I have a friend over on the Verizon communications side who is a member of the CWA, and I have the upmost respect for them and for what they do for their members.

I mean, just look at the comments here on this blog about how VZW is forcing people to sell VZ Home protect and forcing it onto everyone's PA. What can you do about it, other than to not sign the PA. A VZW employee without union protection is like living in the ghetto without a sidearm. You are totally defenseless without union representation. What is HR going to do for you when you are rated below expectation because your team lead told you "it was your turn to take one for the team this month?"

Zoom out and look at the big picture. Look at all of the hard selling, look at all of the baseless ratings that people are getting in spite of their actual performance. Management gets away with so much......and its all because of greed and profit!

VZW ABSOLUTELY needs a union!!!!!!!

No question about it!

Bro show up to work.... Also if you are WFH and can't work? Turn off your internet. You will have to make up the time but still won't hold it against you.

Unions are just another form of welfare. They can't survive without handouts from the government.

You have to show up, I’m assuming in CS it’s fairly obvious when you are on the phones or not.

Union members aren't untouchable. They get fired for not showing up to work as well. Part of having a job is showing up for the job.

Maybe you should show up to work. Verizon has a very generous attendance policy but many like you take advantage of it only to complain when you get held accountable.

Funny because today all general managers received anti-union training

don't expect a union to save you. the only work hazard here is the mouth breathers that try to get in yourface. other than that, CWA isn't going to do a damn thing for you but take some off the top.

Yeah but the wireline contact center associates are union and they can’t touch them and they actually help. It’s different from the store.

Unions don’t do anything. Just look at the store that are in a union. No magic changes happing there or wonderful increase in commissions/employee experience.
