Anyone else feels it has been pure chaos after the layoffs? I have been working 60 plus hours this last week but barely can get anything done because some people are gone and some new people are coming on board... Suddenly I have no idea what is my responsibilities or what am I supposed to do? For those who have been through layoffs before, is it gonna get better?

I agree with many comments below. 60hrs a week tells me one thing. You are working with a complete lack of leadership and direction. After surviving several layoffs at Nike and left on my own after 24 yrs I can tell you…stop today working like that. Work smarter. No one and I mean absolutely no one will reward you for that. If you’re doing the work of 2 people Stop! The only way to get more help and your life back is to push back on an unreasonable workload and show your leaders they have once again built a horrible reorg structure and need to tighten their strategy/vision. Just DONT do it.
@1vni+1smQgGwk it is 60plus work a week without actually getting anything done. Why? You start a project but half way through it get canceled. You have a project that is for FY25 but suddenly become urgent.... Endless meetings that come to no conclusions at all. People invading each other's responsibilities, duplicated effort, repeated and redundant conversations... It is easy to put 60 hours of work at Nike without being able to get anything done
@1lag+1smQgGwk fear
Why are you working so hard for a company that could give a damn about you? Wake up!
How are you working 60+ a week if you don't know what your responsibilities are? What exactly are you doing in these 60+ hours?
This place is a giant ship that has hit the iceberg and is taking on water. The execs are already in the lifeboat with their ill begotten loot leaving us proletariat to drown in waters of layoffs and unemployment. I wish I was wrong but I think there will likely be more layoff rounds to unsuccessfully boost the stock price. They have no plans for a turnaround and will continue to milk the place dry.
I would suggest looking for a new job
OP here. I work at NSRL. It is a directionless team... No vision No clear leadership as to which direction we have to steer. .. I am just running around from one project to another and suddenly I am clueless about what is my role anymore. Research project get canceled, de prioritize, suddenly become urgent, ... I am really really tired... Why the fu-k I was not laid off????
As someone that came from a other fortune 100 company. the systems used at NIKE are so archaic you can't get shhhheeet done.
You need to just do what has to be done. Stop making efforts to improve any systems.
FY25 is coming and there will be more direction.
The other issue is WorkDay is a complete mess and another expensive embarrassment loading.
This ship is sinking and it’s not your fault.
It’s a phase…
Phase 3 🤪🤪🤪
@ivn 100% fact. PK can fu-k right off with his blood and tears 7 days a week filth. That cultural ship sailed eons ago for anyone with a shred of self respect.
I've been with Nike close to a decade and learned there are two kinds of people here: those who lament unreasonable work life balance and those who make a good one happen (the whipped boot lickers don't count, they're few, just loud).
This is my mandate for my teams and anyone I can help: Do not work 60 hour weeks, we don't have many leaders who grasp the reality of burnout enough to stop you. We need focus on quality, not quantity. A 60 hour week of quality work is an oxymoron. If you genuinely need to pull a 60 for some sensible and argued reason, earn it back in the next week or weeks. Stop caving to this ridiculous, directionless corporation. It will always take from you and for anyone who has yet to learn, it will only give back by taking more. Take control of your life above everything else.
100% agree with the comment below. Lack of leadership, a plan, and knowledge of the work that is being done/needs to be done. As someone laid off in Feb, I can tell you that your hard work and dedication does not matter. You are only a number…
Why are you giving Nike 60 hrs.? Did you get a raise to offset all the resources gone with the RIF? You don't have to work more/harder because the Swoosh is a mess, its not your problem(s) to solve.
It’s the new normal I’m afraid. We are on a ship with no rudder & an incompetent captain. Since there is no plan to turn the brand around earnings will continue to slow. The only way to meet the head clowns $2 billion cost cutting commitment is to fire more people. This is sadly our situation for the foreseeable future.
