Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

HBA

Is anyone else (from overstuffed stores in retail who accepted HBA) being forced out of their job because they weren’t told they could move to a different state?

How is that legal?

What state were you in when you took the HBA position? And side note...who’s the id–t talking about plan discounts in the feed here? Stop.

Extended Warranty (which is a VZ product) is not the same as Insurance , which is an Asurion product.

@1tqi+18FcSiqI "any insurance offering, cannot be discounted for any reason as it is a regulated product"
What do you mean by that? Insurance products are discounted all the time... I still get a Verizon discount on my Home & Car insurance. Why would "Cell Phone insurance" be any different? I get it if the Company just says "No"... but pulling the "It's not legal" excuse is pretty weak.
Whats the difference between that & the extended warranty plan, that is discounted?
Add-ons $3.75 (when Retired, after price increase)
Extended Warranty - (Apr 13 - May 12) $5.00
25% - Feature Discount - (Apr 13 - May 12) -$1.25

Add-ons $1.50 (when Employed, b4 price increase)
Extended Warranty (Nov 13 - Dec 12) $3.00
50% - feature discount (Nov 13 - Dec 12) -$1.50

My last post...
sorry to intrude, just looking for info, & it wasn't worth a stand alone thread.

Verizon Protect, and any insurance offering, cannot be discounted for any reason as it is a regulated product.

It is legal because Verizon can terminate you for any or no reason. Your employment (unless you are covered under a collective bargaining agreement) is at-will, unfortunately.

I’m not looking for sympathy. I’m honestly just looking for another person in my position who can give me insight into what HR is telling them.

Also: There are other people in the state I moved to who are HBA. So basically, Verizon said “Screw you, you didn’t have the information you needed to make a long-term decision regarding your employment because we weren’t thorough during the rollout process, so f- off and good luck.”

@zbu+18FcSiqI: I’m not sure about retiree discount, but I would say with about 90% certainty the discount would apply. Log in and try to add it through MyVerizon, and it should show the discount when you go to add it.

@kjk+18FcSiqI: I think you misunderstand: I was retail. Overstaffed store. Tenured. Offered Telesales, CS, Transfer, or Severance. Accepted HBA. Moved. Was not told I could not move by my retail leaders or on-boarding CS trainers.

2 months later, I get a call from HR and am told I have to find another job within the company or be separated because I moved from the state my store was in.

I know this is off topic, but it seems like a lot of wireless workers on here that might know the answer to this question right off the top of there head...

I'm retired now, so my wireless discount dropped from 50% to 25%.
My question is...
Does the Employee/Retiree Discount apply to the "Verizon Protect Plan" charge.

I know it applied to the extended warranty plan I had on my old phone....
I'm just curious if the Discount applies to the more expensive Protect plan as well.
Or if Verizon treats it like the Unlimited Plans... meaning "No discount for you!"

If anyone knows the answer I'd appreciate it... thanks

As to being forced to another state...
I don't know the wireless side, but went trough it on the wire side.
If they offer you a job in another state & or moving expenses, and you turn it down, you are gone.
A VP forced people from all over the country to move into the ex-GTE building in(many of which worked from home in other states for 10-15yrs)... only to see everyone sent back to wfh do the pandemic. Brilliant move.

@fnc+18FcSiqI: You’re telling me! It makes no sense. I went from retail to temporary work from home, then I moved between the time I was temporary and accepted by official HBA role (I was never told there were specific work-from-home states you had to live), and now I am being “separated” from the company for moving from the state my store was in even though I was never told about this requirement prior to moving by any of my leaders.

Why do you think there is HBA, so they can RIFF, and yes it is legal if your job function goes to another state, if you are offered the transfer and you turn it down, oh well you are gone.

That makes no sense? I had 4 co-workers go HBA with the cuts and all work from home in california. Did you go HBA but we're out on leave or something ?
