Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Punishing all, instead of the guilty

We can all thank our neighbors in office, who didn't come in. Lots of people just blatantly ignored the grand pooba's command to return to office a majority/ 3 days a week. I hate it, but I did it, but still see others coming in one door, then circling out to go right back out another door.

The whole thing stinks, but the "company" has the right to tell us where to work. We then have the right to comply or leave.

But thank you so much people who refused to go , or swiped and left. I hope you are happy that we must all pay your price now.

PL will be the first leader to promote six days a week to curry favor. Set that bar high!

Management isn't punishing you because of others. The writing has been on the wall from before the pandemic. OFD people know. OFD was 100% of the work force in the office 100% of the time. They got rid of remote workers a few years before the merger. Right before the pandemic, "leadership" started making noise about applying those rules to OFS. Then the pandemic hit. It provided a 2-year reprieve and a lot of new hires were brought in remote, but 100% in the office always was and still is the plan. The same people who wrote and sent the email about recognizing remote work, increased productivity and who said that it would "always be part" of the future are the very same people enforcing RTO now. Who lied to you there? Was it your coworkers, or leadership?

The pandemic waned and RTO started again. First it was "the majority of the time" in office. Then it was 3 days a week, now it's 4. When it's five days a week, will you sing the same song, oh high-and-mighty one? When they lay off knowledgeable hard workers because Fiserv shut down their offices during the pandemic and now want them to relocate? When your workload is increased because people leave? Are you going to blame your coworkers then, too? The same people rat f---ing you now will be the same people rat f---ing you now, and here's a clue... it's not your coworkers. The same people who lied before are the same ones lying to you now. Attacking and blaming your coworkers only hurts you.

That is SO true about those who refused or came in one door and exited out another - they rat f---ed us all.

Same thing with people who refuse to leash their dogs in areas where there's signage EVERYWHERE saying that your dog must be on a leash. And then all dogs get banned. Thanks a--holes!

I started my job search in Nov and was gone in Feb to a company who TRUSTS and VALUES their employees. Yes, I have to go into the office, but it's 50% per quarter, and I get to pick my days. Sorry, but Frank is a complete mo--n for pushing this mandate. He doesn't have a clue about the real world, nor does he care about his employees.

Don't go in tomorrow either. Or the day after. Or this week. Or next. Let them know this is completely unacceptable.

If you know someone in the know, the plan has been 5 days a week all along

To be fair to OP, my manager tried to tell me the same thing. “Make sure your here 3 days or they’ll change it to 4 days.” And I believed it at first until I realized that 4 days or maybe even 5 has been Frank’s plan all along. And sending that message of “if you don’t do 3 we’ll make it 4” is meant to pit us against each other rather focusing our rage and blame where it belongs. With senior leadership. Don’t fall for it. We’re all stuck in the same sinking boat. Remember that even 3 days RTO is unnecessary. Fiserv did more than just barely survive WFH during the pandemic. Fiserv did WELL. There are zero valid reasons to require RTO.

To the clueless OP...

Rumors, hints, and suggestions that this day was coming started last year and LONG before RTO, it was even suggested by frank'n'beans himself. During a couple of his "look how great I am" meetings. This is not punishment for other's bad actions, this is punishment for working for a sociopath like FB.

Why should only sales be able to be remote? What makes them special?

What about all the work from road people working nights and weekends doing installations and implementations?

If everyone actually had a backbone and resisted the RTO adult daycare nonsense, we would be in a much better position.

Spineless Bootlickers like the OP are why us workers get treated like dirt.

"Punishing all" - you mean it's 4 days a week now? It was in the plan until it reaches 5 days a week. Your following the order did not change the plan.

You're kidding yourself if you believe that 4 day RTO is the result of people not complying with 3 day RTO. In my opinion, the 4 day requirement (possibly even 5 days) would have come a lot sooner if everyone had willingly complied with the 3 day requirement

Yes. There are folks in my location who I know have not come close to hitting the majority mandate even though they were not exempt from it. Like you I’m not happy about 4 days in office but I know if I don’t comply it will not end well for me.

What’s unfair to me is there are still people in non sales roles who get to be 100% remote while most of us need to be in 4/5.

Lol whydontyoucrysboutiy...or they'll leave on their own accord for jobs with companies embracing this century and its technology.

From what I keep hearing, this is because all those unqualified new grads from Rutgers and other nearby places in NJ were not reliable about following the "majority" policy. That's a hiring problem, not a WFH problem. Fiserv again should change its motto to "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes." We are being led by a maniacal old man who should take up fly fishing and let someone with some actual vision run this place.

Hang tough. The id--ts who think they are the smart ones gaming the system will end up quitting, be fired, or spend rest of there days complaining on message boards. No one is irreplaceable.
