Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Fintech or just a regular company?

What kind of corporation is Fiserv these days? Frank seems to be running away from the word “Fintech”, a term he was so eager to embrace a few years ago. (Note to Ohio superfan: time to change your “best Fintech on the planet” chant.) So what will he settle on? Financial Services? Payments? Or will he try to create his own term as he likes to do (anyone remember “Work from chair?” That didn’t catch on.)

CNBC just did a segment about the future of Fintech companies. Fiserv didn’t get a mention. Not even a line on the chart of stocks. An analyst said to buy Square and Paypal, though. What does that tell you?

Fiserv doesnt own Zelle. As you said, a group of banks do. Fiserv has a turnkey solution for small banks and credit unions to connect their customers to Zelle

Square and Paypal are seeing the makets shrinking and I would expect the Clover market to continue to shrink.

It will be interesting to see where Fiserv is at in 5 years.

Square:
Quarterly Revenue Growth (yoy) -21.70%
Forward P/E 101.01

Paypal:
Quarterly Earnings Growth (yoy) -53.60%

Uhhhh yea, I think Fiserv is more than happy that analyst is staying away from Fiserv. Listening to CNBC for any advice is a huge mistake for retail investors.

For the uneducated. Seems to be plenty these days….

“ Zelle (/zɛl/) is a United States–based digital payments network owned by Early Warning Services, LLC, a private financial services company owned by the banks Bank of America, Truist, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, PNC Bank, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo.[1][2][3] The Zelle service enables individuals to electronically transfer money from their bank account to another registered user's bank account (within the United States) using a mobile device or the website of a participating banking institution.[1][3]”

I guess Fiserv changed courses and is no longer about the banking cores, digital payments, and money management ?

“ Fiserv has mainly three businesses a large and wonderful merchant business that is the league leader and has Clover and Carat as main platforms - growing fast at 20%.”

Yes we know this. We work here. But it doesn’t answer the question. Also Carat is not a platform. It’s a marketing term for a collection of platforms, subsystems, and tools. It’s intended to sound to clients like it’s a single engine but it’s far from that. Much easier to rebrand than build.

Fiserv is a mergers and acquisitions company. Everything else is secondary.

HR will show THE OH the door. He just hasn’t figured that out yet.

The OH is probably too busy trying to find the door to worry about finding Berkeley.

The OH (still!) can’t seem to find Berkeley. All talk no action.

Fiserv has mainly three businesses a large and wonderful merchant business that is the league leader and has Clover and Carat as main platforms - growing fast at 20%. Then there is the Banking group with a new Finxact Digital and great surrounds - so really Fiserv is more than just a fintech it is a payments and acquiring AND Fintech powerhouse.

I forgot Fiserv is even a fintech company. I thought they were a people-monitoring/spy company considering that has been their main focus this past year.
