Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Town Hall at our site 1/9

A few teams at our contact center site (mostly operations, tech, workforce management) got an invite just yesterday to a town hall with senior leadership at our site. We've never received such short notice for a town hall before. Usually it's a site-wide event with multiple sessions and your manager tells you what time you're schedule for.

This time is different. They IM'd us all on Teams this morning to ask if we would be in attendance in-person, and if not we could attend virtually. Many of my coworkers are feeling nervous, especially those who have worked here 10+ years.

1/9 will be a Tuesday after payday, so we are all feeling nervous. I'll post on Tuesday and let you all know what happened.

Which meeting did you sit through? I was in the last one via teams. Thankfully there were people in there pushing on the vague answers.

*They are indeed pulling out of Oregon, leaving only branches open , and closing Hillsboro and Salem business centers.

*People can relocate to another city, their expenses will not be covered.

*Sounds like they plan on pulling out of the whole west coast, leaving only some branches open.

*Hillsboro lease expires in 2025, they cannot confirm if they will extend it further.

*All full time remote workers will also be let go because they will no longer be within driving distance of an office.

All other answers were so vague, not worth mentioning. Time to accept it people in Oregon, our time is coming. It feels they want to tank morale in hopes some leave on their own.

After meeting thoughts: this seems like a form of Constructive Discharge. Notice how they didn’t speak much on relocation efforts, remote opportunities, displacement resources? They dangle just enough information to get you thinking your only hope is to jump ship.

Wells reports earnings Jan 12, before the opening bell. By then I bet CS will have convinced the street that his "firm" is well on its way to doing what it will announce to you on Jan 9. Any takers?

This will not be a layoff meeting per se. This meeting will cover how "fargo", Wells Fargo AI, will take over your job. In the meantime, you are to "train" your AI replacement.
Remember they will try to get you to leave on your own accord so that they don't have to pay severance. Please keep us informed on how miserable they are making you.

I feel for you guys. Only a matter of time before we all get axed. Then it's off to a paid 1 year vacation and early retirement.

Yes, I'm also in Oregon. We heard it called a roundtable in person with senior leadership(.Didn't realize it would also be virtual. There have been lots of senior leadership changes and the global survey, so seems more likely that than a layoff. But, who knows. It would be awful to go through the process of accepting volunteers to attend the roundtable, only for a layoff for the lob or site.

Short of massive pay raises, I'm not sure what WF can do as far as "damage control" anymore

I didn't post this thread, but I'm in Des Moines and got a notification for this town hall last week. Seems like a pretty normal thing? It was announced to coworkers of mine in other states as well, just like normal.

I have work to do and don't care what liars have to say. No townhalls for me until Shart gets the golden parachute and goes away.

Monday(s) might be good reason to take a personal holiday, as was advice on a previous post. Use it or lose it right?
