Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Would you rather them pretend to care, or show you how little they care?

Prior to the new regime, most decisions were based on a network of who you knew, not what you were capable of. Those folks were protected, so you see them leaving or getting purged from the company, although some are still hiding and in denial. Now, at least the new leadership is transparent, jobs are being shipped out overseas, they are eliminating many of the people that made such poor decisions, and are becoming lean for eventual divestitures and / or a sale. It is obvious that they can care less about any of the people that work there, but again, they aren't hiding it. So would you rather them pretend to care, or outwardly show you how little they care, tough question.

OP @1qcs+1asVoa6Q. My answer to that question is that I would, more than anything, just like to get out of here as soon as possible.

@1quc+1auvF3if – You hear many times that this is just a way of life working for a large corporate company. I left 2 years ago after many years working for TR and from my experience not all companies (with the exception of some of the investment banks) are like this. You would think with all the surveys they do, TR would have got the message now. The way they treat and undermine their staff is not acceptable and simply makes TR less productive.

Rarely do you actually see an action plan and continual assessment from Exec. management or HR on what they doing to put things right. At the same time some of the management also need to be held to account. If you go to HR with an issue, they just rollover and do not investigate the issues seriously. This makes them complicit in the problem.

This company is not going to change. It has had many chances to improve and done nothing apart from pay lip service to the issues.

My advice would be to leave if you can find a suitable job elsewhere. Trust me, the grass is greener on the other side, and many who have left will back this up.

We are just a cog in the wheel or a number. It’s hard to hear the caring bs from them. I’d rather they not pretend they care about their employees well being. That’s just how I feel. I’m sure others would feel the opposite
