Explain to me why everyone needs a title... no extra $$, no benefits, no bonus.... so, what's the "title" for?

Not for long.
The new titles are impressive and look great on business cards and on LinkedIn. Yes our company has 19,426 Executive Directors woooo eeeeeee!
something they might use to give extra perks in the future. So grap the higher if you can. You never know why the do this titling now.

@1psn+1qLQdhum you hit the nail on the head!!!
They are only relevant for people who need to sign certain things for the bank. For the majority of us, they don’t mean anything. Just ignore them. I will not be putting mine on my resume.
VP, SVP a dime a dozen at WF, meaningless.
These petty titles are just to placate the likes of Karen in accounting so she's happy with her $0.51 raise and doesn't throw a hissy fit.
The only person that is not a president is Joe Biden
If you don't like corporate titles, it's simple, ignore them. They're not hurting you or costing you anything. Personally I think it was stupid that the Hudson Yards clowns stopped issuing them to non-execs 4-5 years back. It's similarly ridiculous for them to market their own reversal as being "new" to WF. All of that said, however, they cost the company nothing and some people appreciate them. So, why not issue them?
The title standardization reflects similar roles at the other large banks. Worst case, it’s great on a resume when you decide to move on elsewhere.
They used to be given sparingly, and not to everyone as they now are. I was given one years ago, and was the only one on my team with it. Now that seemingly everyone has it, I removed it from my auto signature. Meaningless.
Ego.
They do this because a lot of people are still gullible. Was talking to a co-worker just this morning and she was extremely happy for getting the AVP title… felt that her hardwork paid off.
I don’t know how her manager sold this to her or if she is even aware that everyone is getting this title. But I certaintly did not want to burst her bubble so i said nothing.
You're not a grammarian.
For Facebook flexing.
To be eligible for any internal movement that requires that title and also for cross organization equivalence of the positions. So it helps to survive during the resume screening of competing companies
For people like you to complain.
