Feels very pretentious like our titles

This is not a community bank or credit union. We need to act like a big bank - because that’s what we are! Firm!!
You must have been stuck in a cave. I've been here for 15 years and always used the firm. Maybe because I don't actually work for the "bank."
Maybe that's what you all don't realize is that there is more to this company than retail banking
@1pll+1qu0u3HE Just another scared of change relic yelling into the void. Go get some some slop from the cafeteria and make the firm some bucks you whiner. The world is changing around you, deal with it.
“ Because it's an interchangeable word for company. It's laughable that you think JPM came up with that word. It's been used for decades”
You missed the point. Back when WF was actually a better company to work for, NO ONE used the words “the firm.” Not part of the culture. The term “the firm” has only become common language in the last few years with current leadership and the larger number of Citi, JPMorgan, etc. hires. Not that the term wasn’t used in other companies, eh firms, back then, but different wording was intentionally used at WF in a (maybe pretend?) attempt to convey loyalty and care, but at least there was effort. It’s a jarring change in culture and terminology.
There's a whole lot of existing documents that were updated to use the new/improved verbiage. Someone did that. It's a waste of time if nothing else, and what does it get us? They keep saying that we should run it like a business right? Well, investing in something that can't possibly bring a return, isn't doing that.
True! It is the pretentious JPMC pieces of work that call it a “firm”. And they also call customers as “clients”. Only slightly more ridiculous than calling branches “stores”, tbh
Evidence of the large number of Big 4 alums, and its associated collective influence on across the Bank.
How is it wasting time/money to type in an email “the firm” instead of “the bank”?
They don’t. This isnt bank of america
Well, if you want to be common, I guess you know what to do. Is wasting time/money for zero possible benefit also common? Nevermind, I think we all know that stupidity is very common indeed.
It's easier to use a generic term like "the firm" than remember which company they're fleecing this year.
This is very common in the industry and shows what paranoid hayseeds are left working here.
when I hear firm, I think law office.....bank is a bank!
Because it makes the coastal elitist ilk feel important
Because of the John Grisham book and movie with Tom Cruise.
Sharf has been given a Mission Impossible.
Because it's an interchangeable word for company. It's laughable that you think JPM came up with that word. It's been used for decades
Because the bank is becoming super top heavy with highly paid JPMorgan rejects that have no clue what they are doing. They think it sounds cool when they tell their friends in the Hamptons about "the firm."
If no one should care, then there was no reason to start calling it "the firm" a few years back. Waste of time and money.
Why do you care the (non-offensive) terminology someone else uses? It doesn’t materially change anything. Much like team members to employees. Why waste the energy?
