Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Coworker tells us he was exposed to Covid..

There's a co-worker in my store who disappeared a few days ago. Management was all hush hush. this coworker informed us that his in-laws and the entire side of the family got infected these are the people that watch his children while he's at work. he's starting to not feel well but it's still waiting for test results.

Verizon has done nothing. if it wasn't for this employee to tell us that he was infected we would all be in the dark.

What happened to all the promises of letting us know if someone was infected?

Has anyone else experienced someone in their store getting coded how did the company deal with it were you in the dark too?

@1owr+16UqDoqq clearly can't read the employee told his fellow co-workers that he was infected he disclosed it the company did not.

Second of all according to the CDC an employer should disclose that a workplace has been exposed to coronavirus however they cannot release the name of the person.

The semantics are two different things it is the responsibility of an employer to tell their employees that their work environment may be compromised they don't need to put a poster up that says Joe blow has coronavirus stay away. It's exactly what contact tracing is.

Verizon itself early in the pandemic said they are committed to informing employees if there was exposure in the workplace and they would do a deep clean.

There are laws and you may not like them, but are real the company must follow before releasing anything or certain things. And no you're not a bigger expert in them than lawyers who work for Verizon. Privacy laws are real. Verizon is giving the information as allowed and following laws. Your ignorance does not make them wrong.

@gl is clueless. My store had something like this happen. 1 employee stoped coming to work 5 days later get positive results. The company did not tell.us anything until she was positive. At that point 4 in the store got infected. All the steps are important but the key to all this is contact tracing and information to keep people safe. Verizon is not being clear with it's employees.

Key phrase here is “was infected”. Why on earth would they tell you if someone has been “possibly” exposed!? So the entire store goes into panic mode and basically won’t focus on anything OTHER than an employee POSSIBLY being exposed to it. Geez you guys need to chill and focus on making money, rather than who possibly might have been exposed to it. Wash your hands, keep your hands out of your mouth and away from your face, wear masks and wipe down after yourself. It’s all going to go away come election time anyway.

Wow this is insane...you folks need a union or atleast fight for one. Company don't have your best interest in mind. If all you as workers come together u can accomplish so much...u folks together have so much more power than the company if y'all come together
