So, I have been put on PIP. I know this is basically the way the company is telling me that they don’t want me.
I have been in good relations with my manager for years, and I found him to be an honest and fair person. Now I wonder what his role is in my PIP process. Has he been openly told to get rid of me, and does he have any impact of the final outcome of my PIP?

Many managers are immature and put people on PIPs for personal hatred of someone, so not always performance- based. These are the managers who play favorites and treat their direct reports as either loved or hated. Their favorites are the kiss ups and the hated are the ones who work hard but refuse to kiss up.
If someone isn’t doing their job then a leader has to do something about it. If you are on a pip then somewhere along the way you must not be doing your job. Do you really expect your manager to not do anything about it? If they don’t then they aren’t doing their job. What person would over look someone not doing their job and risk sacrificing their own job? Grow up and stop looking for excuses. Just do your job or leave. Simple.
M Y leader has recently placed 2 very good, long term employees on A PIP for very minimal issues. One has since been let go. Seems like they are being told to do this. Whether that is to get rid of people or prevent moving to different spots….
This is a great reason to not be friends with your boss, the blurred lines
PIPs are not all of a sudden. There would have been prior conversations about the reason.
@1ome+1gjrrGue….seriously? Leaders can’t control everything in a remote environment, and maybe the leader did try to coach, but the pip person couldn’t do it for whatever reason…not saying this is the poster’s situation, but we all have teammates that start late, do half a-s jobs, etc…
It all depends on your leader. Yes, a high % of PIPs are exactly for getting rid of people. And the "at will" employer means nothing. Humana can fire for no reason, but it's all about protecting themselves in a lawsuit, like a PIP. Some areas make it impossible to come off of a PIP.
Stop calling yourself a leader. If you were a leader then why someone in your team reached to the extreme. Where you sleeping till that point or waiting for them to make mistakes?
Leadership praising leadership. This happens only in my company. Lol
As a former people leader who was involved in helping other leaders manage their associates on a PIP, it is the leaders role to work with the associate to come up with the plan to improve performance and regularly meet with the associate to let them know how they are doing. A PIP isn’t a death sentence. I’ve seen more associates successfully meet the goals set for them, than those that were terminated. In fact, I’ve only seen one person on a PIP get terminated.
I keep seeing parts of the plan to get the billion in value is through productivity… maybe we all will be on PIP’s
You are a saint Patrick who accepted his punishment without asking any reason? What is the reason of your PIP?
Looks like some manager has put this positive comment. Poor leadership at Humana. Why would someone be put on pip without any reason? Most of the employment is at-will. Humana can fire you anytime without any reason. They sometimes pay severance but they aren’t bound to pay.
Why was your manager told to get rid of you?
Your manager should be working with you to resolve the PIP
