Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

You all deserve better

I was let go back in August as part of the lay off. Best thing that ever happened to me. From what I am reading nothing has improved. The discussion regarding the low raises is infuriating. Taking calls for Verizon is not easy. It takes a lot of effort and mental toughness. There are so many other companies that treat their employers better than Verizon and would be honored to have such hard working reps on their teams. I ended up getting my insurance license and finding a new job. YOU CAN TOO! Verizon has made it clear they do not care about it's frontline employees. Verizon will never treat you like they used to back in the day. Hans is a cancer that continues to take huge bonuses while the frontline suffers. It's disgusting.

Agreed, after leaving big red life turned around. Literally the best decision.

Stay if it works for you, get the he-l out of it doesn't and don't look back.

I don't know, I left 2 years ago and seeing these posts makes me realize that I made the right choice. Everyone I know who has left this company is much happier. Aside from the PTSD from working here, everyone is much much happier with their decision. Don't talk yourself into staying here. I did that for 3 years before I quit and it really put me into a serious depression. Glad I got out of it. You can too!

I was laid off in 2015. Looking back, that was probably the peak of the companies existence. It has been all downhill from there. Grateful for the 3 weeks per year severance, STI payout and Verizon making me wealthy. Other than that, working there was very stressful and I am glad it is behind me.

Ditto @1oic+1rfT94rq The grass is not always greener on the other side, especially in the era when layoffs are the norm …

Be thankful for having a job!

Good for you. However, some of us are really appreciative of VZ. We all understand that RIFs can come and any minute, but a lot of us have taking advantage of programs to get degrees and certifications. In 10 years, I have tripled my income and moved beyond frontline. My family has healthcare and we have 401k. It is not a perfect company but take a look at other boards. It can be worse. Even some of the great tech and consulting companies aren’t perfect. For the people that are bitter, it is seriously like staying in a one way toxic relationship. If you don’t like it, get out and prove you can do better.
