Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Bittersweet

After nearly 30 years of service, I will be leaving Fiserv at the end of this month.

I have such mixed-emotions regarding this. Over half of my adult life has been spent working for Fiserv. On one hand, I feel as though so many of the positive aspects of my life are connected to my time here. My child was born and became an adult. My closest friends are all former or soon to be former co-workers. I met my fiancé at Fiserv and have bought and sold numerous homes, automobiles, and recreational vehicles. My career has allowed me to travel to nearly every city in the United States that I have ever wanted to visit. I have experienced tremendous career as well as financial growth during my time at Fiserv.

Up until two months ago, I thought that I would work for Fiserv until I retire, I couldn’t imagine a scenario where I would work anywhere else. That is until I was forced to choose between uprooting my entire life by moving across the country or, finding somewhere else to work. While I am excited to begin a new chapter in my career with an incredible opportunity, there will always be part of me that will be bitter regarding how it all came to an end.

Frank destroys everything he touches, and he enjoys doing it. Someone must stop this psychopath.

I am in the same boat also! I thought first data was going under? And now they are taking Deluxe and Fiserv also?

I am in the same boat, so many life milestones during my time with Fiserv. Got married, bought first home, had my children, and grew in my career in so many ways. While not 30 years, for the past 13 years I’ve met some amazingly talented people and I think that will be the hardest part about the day when I will be let go, I’ll miss the people the most.

"Interesting, more than half of employees report that they have relocated in their careers. Change is difficult for some an adventure for others ."

Maybe they are talking about moving from an office to working from home? I could see over half of the company willing to do that.

15 years. Outstanding reviews and love my job. It’s sad what is happening and how out of touch management is.
SME are a secret in my division that stay remote indefinite. They will be gone as soon as everyone else it out.
And the same management promises to tell everything they know. Yet 2 months later and no word on when this will happen. And no answers from anyone to our questions.
I can’t wait to get out.

Relocated for the same company? I'd like to see that poll.

This is the second time I've seen someone subtly attach cowardice to an unwillingness to relocate for one's employer. Leaving a company after working there for 10, 20 or 30 years doesn't take guts? Please.

There’s an awful lot of pain in this thread. Loyal people being put out to pasture like they never mattered. That’s the type of leadership at fiserv now. Morally bankrupt. And honestly not even good at making money for shareholders

I’ve got a secret for all you old Fiserv people from an old FD person… Frank and upper management don’t give a sh-t about you or anyone else. Do what your told or get out period.

@1oej+1e7pwFtr who wrote "Interesting, more than half of employees report that they have relocated in their careers. "

Can you please share your source that shows that more than 50% of the workforce has relocated to another state for the same position, salary and mandated by their organization?

Same here, 11 years, made many friends, worked hard everyday to make things better for my team and the product we supported. All that down the tubes, such a sad state of affairs. Best of luck to everyone, I've moved on and my next journey begins, with no stress or looking over my shoulder.

Yes, I've heard the same story again and again. One friend of mine is over 10 years. Others I know were at 10-15 years. All they've ever done is do a good job.

I haven't get affected by the RELO or GTFO yet, but I know it's just a matter of time. I made my decision to leave in Sep when my friends were affected. I'm almost at ten years, and already out the door - though they don't know it yet. :-D

I have almost the same exact story as I imagine there are many of us that do. Defies all reasonable logic especially given the environment we live in today. I feel just as sad for those that are left to fill the huge gaping holes. In the end it will be Fiserv that draws the short straw as they realize it’s not so easy to replace 30 years of experience and high functioning, highly valuable employees. Wish you all the luck in the world!

There are no words. I will never fully understand the logic behind the decisions upper management is making. Good luck to you on your next chapter.
