Main message: In Germany SAP has a big problem - too many old employees (age >= 55). That's the main idea behind everything and may be related to Germany only. There seems to be a high pressure to get rid of older employee which is possible only by paying big money due to legal rights the employee have in Germany. The work unions have fighted hard in the past to protected old employees.

Kindly remember that Mr. Schick is only responsible for Germany, even not for the European Union, especially by no means for the US and the other countries. SAP will act based on legal and business situation in every country. In countries where hire and fire is possible, well ...

Salary range for T4 are huge; @2hzu+1rYOcv9N my guess is you are one of few percentage of people who has a nice manager and appreciate you. Only know a few T4 in that salary range, most are below median guideline and getting 8.9% where my team we only get ~2.5%.

@2vkz+1rY0cv9N what to say...it's true.

I'm also T4 and my TTC is 223K € (honestly my last salary review was quite disappointing....just 8.9% increase), with some "magic" I got hired with a part-time contract and so half of my salary is "tax-free".

Sorry, now I have to go. It's already 3PM on a Friday...time for some burnouts with my Porsche (obviously hybrid...for tax reasons) so on Monday I can order a new set of tires.

Enjoy the weekend!

@1ocf+1rYOcv9N: Let me help you. I am a T4 in Germany, my TTC is 88k€ before taxes. I receive no Moves as I am a T4 already. After taxes and all the other stuff that the great German laws and rules require you to pay (and which in the US are likely regarded as communist), I will get around 50k€ in cash. I have a company car - no, not a fancy top of the line Mercedes SUV but a simple VW Golf Mk 8 - so I have to pay 312€ per month to the company for it letting me use said car (including free fuel, service and insurance). In addition, I will have to pay around 116€ per month in taxes because of said car. I pay 1240€ rent per month in Heidelberg for 940sqft for a family of three to live in. Since I am considered rich with my salary in Germany, I get little to no government perks. Most other IT companies in Germany pay less than SAP.
Does that still sound so great and perky to you as an US employee? I am really interested in your honest answer.

What is the average salary for SAP employees in Germany as compared to those in the US. The critical issues here — to be “jealous” of, as you so sophomorically put it —- are 1) perks (company car w/petrol and insurance allowances 2) protections afforded German colleagues as a result of great German labor laws as opposed to abysmal US laws. So. It’s fair that US employees are a bit envious, as the overall situation is not equal. Fair? Life isn’t fair… but it’s still a fact of life that, during times like these, that absolutely enrages US colleagues. Then there is, essentially, the German anti-American (or non-German) chauvinism. SAP will hire or promote more Germans than Americans because Americans are “too expensive” and the company prefers to hire in low cost locations like Buenos Aires, Manila or São Paulo. While the Germans have the “low cost” (not anymore!) of Prague, the company does not shut Waldorf out as it has with NSQ, for example, when hiring T1s and T2s. And it is no secret that the lions sure of the company’s leadership sits in WDF while a massive cut of the revenues come from NA. So, “jealous”? Jealousy is for teenaged girls. Pi---d off at the inequities? That’s more for good workers being disproportionately impacted…

Is “Mr Schick” a real person or some AI generated bot controlled by the office of people and culture?

He’s a representative for the workforce in Germany and he says stuff like this? With friends like this, who needs enemies?

lets not be jealous on Germany colleagues - Excluding sales, in general their average salaries are not great in comparisons with others in tech Industry. At least they got a fair deal. Who ever got the nice severance are lucky than people working here.

Mr Schick's statement comes so soon after the EU WC statement being leaked. They were very critical. He seems to think SAP are 100% correct in their actions. Could he have been encouraged to comment perhaps?

The Germany situation is a different thing anyway. They have no layoffs, it is all voluntary after the sh-tshow of P23.

Plus as he reveals they have an agreement with SAP for no layoffs in Germany for 2 years.
