Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

“I can’t stop thinking about those affected by Nike layoffs…”

I swear to god if I see one more post like this on LinkedIn I am going to eat my own hair.

If you know people who were impacted by layoffs, REACH OUT TO THEM DIRECTLY. Offer condolences and support. Be a reference or offer to buy them a drink when they’re up for it.

If you don’t actually know anyone who was laid off and are just trying to drum up engagement for your sad LinkedIn influencer career, kindly fu-k off. This goes double for people who don’t even work at Nike. You are the worst and your life coaching business is doomed.

“ You don't want to hear from me at a time like this.” Absolutely untrue.. as someone who was impacted, every single person who reaches out helps me get through this

I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't always feel comfortable crossing that "personal" boundary if we've never been personal before. I'm just a work friend. You don't want to hear from me at a time like this. Sometimes it's not malicious or selfish.

@1nue+1sjvaiwx I'm not expecting to be friends outside of work. I'm expecting them to be decent human beings and reach out after their coworkers are laid off. These are different things.

This just shows you where the backstabbing self promoting people are. They don’t want to reach out to people directly or actually help. They just want attention and clicks. So disgusting.

If you're not friends outside of work when you're there, you won't be friends outside of work afterwards. Some folks have weird expectations.

So much this. Oh I’m sorry you’re having a hard time while you type that from your Nike laptop, while I am boxing and shipping mine back! Jackasses!

Please know this is more about them than you. They are cowards. They don’t know what to do or say. It’s heartbreaking and sad.

How about a pound of BBQ with some of that Jack Daniels sauce?

Hey, but for the discounted rate of $250:an hour, you too can get career coaching from someone who has barely been able to keep a job.

Ambulance chasers.
So gross.

Think about those that suffered a debilitating loss of a pound of flesh!

Agreed. I was laid off in February and out of my team of 10, only two people reached out. Radio silence from the others. And these were people I worked with for multiple years. I celebrated their birthdays, bought Girl Scout cookies from their kids. And they couldn’t even be bothered to send a text.

I have a leader that I have yet to hear from after I got laid off. I got let go by their leader as was everyone else but my direct manager never said anything once I exited. Corporate people only care when it's beneficial to them.

I agree! I was affected by the layoff and reached out to my circle for recommendations and out of 12 only 2 responded with a reference. It makes me extremely sad that people don’t even reach out unless you post something on LinkedIn with a long post.
