Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Longtime employees are being shafted

How the he-l is it right to pay a new employee $20 hour and give nothing to your longtime employees that have been here for
10 or 15 plus years and only making afew more dollars than the new employees?!?!?! After all, we are the one's that are holding what's left of this company afloat!!! It's clear you don't care about us and want us gone so we should all give you what you want and all longtime employees should quit effective immediately or go out on strike!!

@@1mrp+1glYqsJG Are you a fan of the NFL? if so read up on the term Rookie Contracts. These allow the teams to fill the rosters with better/less injured talent and save the big $$ for the stud players. If you're not there, then you are either not on your knees in front of the right boss or just above average at your job & not the big Stud = dime a doz.

Ahhhh... a fine example of drunk posting. Thank you 4ucd!
In addition to intelligence and dr-g testing, I wonder if we can screen for alcohol abuse markers as well. We might as well while we're working toward getting better quality reps.

@3otj+1glYqsJG's post is proof we need to administer some sort of intelligence test during the hiring process.

You kinda got it right.
The industry has changed like the pager industry before and the landline industry before that. These changes dictate that we can no longer justify paying what we once did for physical locations. Especially the most expensive part- the employees. This is why compensation changed. If you can accept these changes and they can fit your life,, then you're welcome to stay. If not, it's time for you to move on and make way for those whom this job fits as it now stands. We know this won't be acceptable to everyone and we accept that. You should too. If it's your time to move on, good luck.

Long term employees are undesirable. They remember the good times. New reps don't know anything else.

14 years.. you've been here long enough by now you should know they don't care about frontline employees. Anytime your upset about anything, its always your fault. Its not the mismanagement of the company, the sh---y systems, the customers or the ceo. The problem is always you. You didn't pitch enough products. You didnt tell them about overrpriced insurance or 5G home. You need to be more positive. Youre just negative. That's what they always say. No accountability for any decisions from the koolaid drinkers at the top. They just turn it back on you. You must be incompetent you scrub, maybe you should try selling more! That's what they think of frontline employees. Pay them crumbs, treat them like dirt who cares.

Awwww... it sounds like someone is having a real red letter day. Don't worry, it'll be over in a few days. No more bloating and irritation, and you'll feel like a pretty little girl again.
Just think- when you finally do get let go you get to take your proper place taking care of house and family.
I'm sure the men in your life will make it better for you, @1dvx

FOR YOUR INFORMATION I DID MOVE UP AND IT STILL GOT ME NO WHERE WITH THIS COMPANY! I STILL GOT SHAFTED BECAUSE THE POSITION I "MOVED UP" WITH WAS ELIMINATED AND THOUSANDS LOST THEIR JOBS.

SO DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT MOVING UP WHEN THIS COMPANY ELIMINATES POSITIONS LEFT AND RIGHT BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY THEIR TENURED PEOPLE WHAT THEY'RE WORTH AND RATHER CONVERT STORES TO INDIRECT AND OUTSOURCE! THIS COMPANY GROSSLY UNDERVALUES AND UNDERPAYS THEIR PEOPLE AND YOU TRYING TO TURN IT AROUND AND BLAME REPS BY GASLIGHTING THEM JUST PROVES IT.

Your position in Customer Care doesn't matter. Sups are very mad, some of us get paid just as much as front line care. There is no big jump as you might think. I had to tell someone to shut up and stop complaining about their 1% performing raise, because they're making just as much as I am. What a joke. My property taxes alone went up more this year than my paycheck did the last 2 years.

It's nice to know that after 3 years and getting crumbs thrown at us for a raise, to knowing I'm getting the same pay as the guy who just started a month ago. I was excited to hear the announcement until I found out that tenured reps that were just under 20 were only brought to 20 and not matched the prior raises. Nothing like being top performer in your store and getting the same raises as the lowest performer. This company needs to properly give tenured people atleast some edge of pay over a starting employee. (Que in overpaid corporate scumbags to downvote my truthful comment)

Ok this is horrible and ridiculous and I feel everyone’s anger. For the person that worked 14 years and is still a rep. You should’ve been moved up in the company or take your talents to new channels. Who would work as a rep for 14 years that’s just ridiculous. The only one to blame is you you’ve maxed your pay grade.

@mol+1glYqsJG

YOU THINK $24 AN HOUR HURTS AT 7 YEARS...TRY 14 YEARS AT $24 AN HOUR RATE!!!! YOU GET PAID THE SAME AS ME AND I HAVE BEEN HERE TWICE AS LONG HAS YOU!!! THIS IS EXCRUCIATING WHEN YOU ARE TOLD REPEATEDLY YOU ARE A GREAT REP NOT ONLY BY YOUR CUSTOMERS BUT BY THE SAME PEOPLE TAKING YOU FOR A FOOL AND GIVING YOU CRUMBS FOR RAISES!!! THIS IS REALLY SH---Y, FINDING OUT YOU CLEARLY ARE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF!!!

WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE BASES ON HOW SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN HERE FOR 7 YEARS MAKES THE SAME HAS SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN HERE FOR 14! I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE GETTING SCREWED
OVER EITHER! THERE ARE MANY OF US! MAKES YOU WONDER IF IT IS BASED ON GENDER OR RACE BECAUSE IT CLEARLY ISN'T BASED ON PERFORMANCE.

Down votes mean nothing here. Just ignore them. Pretty easy to see how the waters are when everyone basically says the same thing. Check the verizon home page intranet article about this nothing burger PR stunt. No one is alone in feeling this way. In fact if you check the comments on the post I'm referring to, you will see many people who are vocally upset about this. Also 1-2 complete clowns trying to defend it.

Lol....all you corporate trolls that down vote here are a-s hats!!! The down votes on these comments are almost the exact same numbers......I hope your jobs are next on the chopping blocks! You aren't fooling anyone and you are only adding fuel to the fire!!

Res with tenure are in a bad position here, I am sure many will leave. There will be a long train of folks crossing the street and getting jobs with competitors (and vice versa)

Just to be clear, they are only raising pay to $15.15 per hour, the other is the at risk commissions payout of $800 per month. Together they add to $20. For most new hires, that’s an average of $1.50 to $2.50 per hour. It’s meant to be a talking point, and correct, for new hires it’s a good thing. Yes, it’s a shaft to people who earned that $2.50 over the first few years. Don’t let anyone convince you anyone is getting raised to $20 an hour plus commissions
