I miss BB&T

That's it. All I wanted to say.

Oh yes ST technology was so advanced. What would we do without the ability to do a meaningless ccg? Or all the repetitive meaningless leads? Don’t forget; for a period hBBT people had to key loans for the ST folks. Talk about no knowledge.

You may think the hBBT tech was outdated. But at least it worked. I can’t say the same about Truist tech.

BBT was more so customer service while ST was sales. My AL from ST even said there was a lot of predatory practices with clients. He was proud as he said that.

When the hurricane came and everyone was out of power for a week I was offered a hotel room. I was the only one in branch offered a hotel room for some reason. I got wrote up as insubordination for asking if they could give it to my teammate with a kid instead. Suntrust leadership at its finest. I could go on with these types of examples.

In my department, no. It isn't self clearing. It isn't automated like it was at SunTrust. Everything is primitive and requires even more manual input.

Also, why is it that BBT needed multiple hands to touch one item? This wasn't a thing at STI.

It is incredibly inefficient and it is like pulling teeth to make improvements.

Further - majority of the processes were carried over from BBT. SunTrust's technologies and configurations were left behind as BBT did not want to adopt the best bits of STI. To the point that apparently an over $2m (valued) configuration file went "missing".

Trust/wealth management is not the same as brokerage. Yes, BBT/S&S much better than STI brokerage unit; but the high net worth, trust and estates, true fiduciary business at STI was stronger. That’s not a dispersion on BBT it’s just a place of focus at STI. But the point is it’s ALL a mess now and the “our way was better” stuff is not helping. We can’t compare a system of 5 years ago to that being tinkered with by a CEO trying to squeeze expense.

Another troll has shown up. Hate to show you reality, but BB&T (SST) processes were much better with one of the main things was they were self clearing. Now we have to do everything with NFS and it has been a nightmare.

You could not be more wrong about SunTrust being better in wealth management. No, they weren't. Their wealth management division was falling apart and bleeding advisors. Almost every single process that we had at BB&T at least let her work. SunTrust has destroy every single thing we do. They will throw out something from BB&T (Scott and Stringfellow) telling us "the technology is better with SunTrust" and we find out it is much, much worse. Bill Rogers, et all has put together applications with bandaids that they are paying for the basic version (Salesforce, etc) and then wonder why things get bogged down. Now they are sending departmental jobs oversees. The slowdown to just get a freaking account approved is DAYS. Putting in an account transfer from another first takes 4 days just to get NFS to start their process.

These comments are fruitless. I worked at both (all three, I guess) and can honestly say both companies did well at different things. If banks do 6 things, BBT was better/focused at three of them (retail, small commercial, insurance) and STI was better/focused at the other three (investment banking, mid commercial/corporate, and trust/wealth management). That’s why the merger made sense, at least to me. Of course your BBT friends prefer the BBT days; and of course your STI friends prefer the STI way….. you’re probably in a department that was very good at what it did, and now it’s all messed up.
I left Truist 4 years ago and am amazed that this “we/they” thing still exists. Too many people screaming at the rain and wishing for the old days…. Time to move on? Change your attitude? Find the good in people?
The merger was actually a pretty good idea but its execution has been the lore of corporate failures we’ll be reading about for years. As the saying goes: lead, follow, or get out of the way.

I too wish I was a good for nothing hSTI employee. Sat around and read the paper and scratched my ba--s all day. Got absolutely nothing done all day. If BBT didn’t come around and save ST, they would be drowning in the back yard kiddie pool. ST employees got things done, Haaaaaaaa. That is like saying Biden got things done.

BBT's processes were far behind Suntrust's. I don't see the appeal of going through 10 steps to get one thing done when what SunTrust had in place was superior that did need some improvements.

Looking at statements in BBT's mainframe is incredibly unintuitive where Suntrust's mainframe was straightforward and easy to hop around.

Channel Link is far better than what we currently have.

Were people really happy taking three times as long to get anything done at BBT?

I don't know a single hBBT employee who doesn't prefer BB&T over Truist.

Parasite is to kind for Kelly and Bill, Kelly in particular. Don’t forget BBT board. These people damn well knew what they were agreeing to. Technology in scale and 6 years later the systems are little improved. Several starts and stops, buying useless start ups, wealth with systems that take a week to get anything done. I don’t know how Kelly King can go to church every week and well….you know. Still he has these sycophants when he post some nonsense on LinkedIn about growing up poor yards yada yada. I’ll be glad when it is sold and BBT, Suntrust and SunTruist are gone and they damn sure will be quickly forgotten.

**And there's the problem... Truist is full of parasites, from the top down. BB&T promoted an environment of servant leaders, that's what people miss. They don't miss you. You're a dime a dozen. **

And sadly it didn't help as all because the people in charge blessed the merger, took their giant bag of money, sabotaged the remaining leaders and left. Different flavor of the same parasites.

"For how long though... last official act is to raid the savings BB&T stashed away. Then they'll go for your pension."

I can't begin to care about that, assume all companies will be self consuming, infinite growth isn't possible so be flexible. If they collapse or stop upping my pay then I'll leave and the pension isn't relevant. If you don't own your own retirement you're making a mistake. Pensions/401ks are like bonus money buy shouldn't be your primary retirement planning.

I, too, miss coming in to work at 9:30am, sending a few emails, taking a two-hour lunch, then shopping on Amazon and browsing Reddit until 4:00pm and going home, leaving my laptop at work and not having to worry about my sleep being interrupted. And having weekends and holidays free, too. It was great.

You want to see what working for BBT would be like today? Go to work for Huntington. They operate much like BBT in the day and it’s not a good thing.
