Now it is not clear to me what was I really afraid of. I hesitated for months to leave all this and then it turned out my fears were completely unfounded. As bad as I felt here and as much as I wanted to quit here, I constantly felt nervous about starting a new job.
Maybe because most people's self-esteem is tied to their current job. And it’s quite easy to lose all self-esteem here, isn’t it?

I left Verizon years ago and I still come back here to watch the fire burn. My new job and work culture are amazing but I like seeing that I made the right choice at the right time. Once you leave Verizon you’ll come back here too. Get off your high horse dummy.

Thanks you for your priceless advice. At this time, I have ran out of medication and the insurance company wants 5 thousand dollars for it. I can't afford it.
Can you please pay for it? Hello?! Anyone there? Hello?
Hey HR Di-----k, Not all folks are douchy. It is great to hear that there is light at end of the tunnel. Who cares what the motivation

Take your medications and quit posting
Question to the people that “quit”. Why are you scouring a rumor message board for a company you “used” to work for if you are so happy now?
Toxicity and dysfunction come at the price of your mental health. Each to their own. I quit not so while back. I know now I should have left sooner
Another miserable unioner chimes in. They are all unemployable lifers.
When keeping it real goes wrong. Enjoy that positive self esteem for the next month or two til you find out your new job stinks also. Self esteem doesnt put food on the table. I guess everyone has different circumstances.
“The devil you know...”
There is no self esteem possible. Used to be, but not in many, many years.
However, tying self esteem to what you do for a living is a mistake. A job, especially the type of jobs available at Verizon, are just what you do, not who you are.
I’m sure there are some who tie their position to “who they are,” but this is a failure to mature beyond 20- something.
We can all have some self esteem from the fact that we got up everyday and did something we didn’t like, for the benefit of our families. But wow to those who tie their self opinion to their, or any, job.
