For me personally it would be worse to survive these layoffs than to end up on the cut list. Perhaps for others too but for me definitely so.
I think things will get ugly for survivors unfortunately?
I hope that I will be cut but I wish good luck to those who want to stay here for a while longer.

I agree ... interesting to see posts by those that act as if this doesn't apply to them. It's the usual default, talking down to "employees". You can be a VP but you are still an employee, d-mba-s.
VP's don't know nearly as much as they want people to think especially, he who is guilty of filing fraudulent patents(s). He might wish he was getting laid off.
Most likely he will be terminated with no package. Sayonara, D-mba-s!
Wonder if someone on layoff list, leaves before if, they add another name as a replacement on layoff list?
"Clearly @1kvc has a massive chip on his shoulder and a desperate need to insult others who still work at Oracle and post here to complain about the place. Get over it and move on, this site is for sharing layoff related comments and thoughts, obviously that includes complaining."
Many Oracle employees need to rationalize their inaction and inability to leave. There's a lot of tough love on this board , but you are sure doing your best to convince yourself that it's something else and does not apply to you. Enjoy your time at the O and sux2bu@oracle.com
HP and IBM, even though they’ve had hard times off and on, are classier companies. That’s just a fact.
HP and IBM aren't run by a malignant narcissist.
By the way, you are taxed on the gift card!
I got to pick items from an online catalog for 15 years. Basically, a $300 gift card. If I got a paper from the head goon, I probably threw it out.
"With your obvious powers of observation and analysis, I’m sure that you will not need to volunteer."
I think what this poster is saying is that Oracle really has no retirement or pension to speak of. An early retirement at Oracle is simply being shown the door. He-l, they give you $200 on your 10-year anniversary and a computer printout of "Thanks for 10 years!". Thanks Larry!
“ What the heck is an early retirement package? ”
With your obvious powers of observation and analysis, I’m sure that you will not need to volunteer.
A retirement package isn’t Oracle is a kick In the a-s and good luck.
Exactly right.
Instead of valuing Oracle's older and experienced members, the management despises them.
One of the reasons for this is as I just stated in another post. The management is incompetent. Seasoned professionals who are experienced and know how things should be done are a threat to the incompetent managers filling Oracle's ranks.
Same as a competent person who is hired in. They are all threats to the incompetent and corrupt management.

Like IBM and HP. They offered early retirement packages. I know people who left from both. It’s like a layoff package but they also got to stay on the company insurance plan at a lower rate for quite a while. I think there were some other benefits also. Basically they give you incentive to leave early. Oracle never offers anything like that.

Your need to put others down and pretend like it's advice is truly pathetic.
What the heck is an early retirement package? This isn’t the federal government. Oracle has no retirement benefits.
Are the packages still 1 week severance for every year of total service?
The problem for voluntary retirement would be the volume of applicants.
It’s the Oracle management, isn’t it, that are not considering offering early retirement packages? I think a lot of employees would take early retirement if it were offered.
Why don’t the consider voluntary retirement packages?
Exactly. I'm always fascinated by how desperate these employees are to avoid taking matters into their own hands. I'm convinced it's an example of what I call "the doormat principal". It's just like any abusive relationship, where one party is the abuser and the other party allows/enables the abuser to walk all over them. Over and over and over again. Often it's a sign of low self esteem/low self worth with the abused party. And finally, now that we're at the bottom of the barrel in terms of Oracle talent, I'm pretty sure we will see lots more of this kind of avoidance.
They really should ask for volunteers. There would be a long line.
Why don’t the consider voluntary retirement packages?
Getting laid off from Oracle is the best thing that can happen to anyone.
I think I probably agree. Let’s hope they are at least decent to the long-termers in terms of package. They certainly weren’t for the longest time.
