Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

If stores are low on staffing then temporarily shut them down

Many stores if not all them are experiencing staffing issues. Until this problem is corrected and people are hired then start temporarily closing stores down or make some in store pick up bill pay only. The extra staff could work at a nearby store helping to alleviate stress on each other. I would not be over exaggerating when I tell you this is a crisis.

@1ksd+1bmGcCkn Unemployment has paid just as much if not more in most cases. They used us while they played up to speed tag from their private estates. And that whole racism speech the top guy gave was as fake as a four dollar bill

Feelings are mixed.

No matter their reasoning behind it, I will always be greatful to Verizon for taking care of us through the pandemic. Many many people suffered financially - and we were at least sustained through a very difficult time in the world.

On the flip side, I agree that the pandemic was an opportunity to expedite the shrinking of retail. I’d be more upset if the pandemic caused this, but it only expedited it. Which in my opinion is fine.

But personally, throughout it all, I never expected there to be MORE pressure than ever with the transition to oneteam. Fewer reps, MORE metrics (CC, touchless, etc.), along with RIS impacting our pay.

I am not one who is ALL about the money. I would be willing to happily stay with Verizon at my current pay even though it is less than what I was making on the old structure.

It’s the EXTRA pressure in light of the less money that I’m finding to be a dealbreaker for me. And I do agree, it is very likely by design to weed out the tenured reps.

As I mentioned earlier; I’ve been watching and anticipating the shrinking of retail for the past several years. What caught me by surprise was I would have anticipated more store closures quicker as opposed to closing fewer stores and leaving all the open ones with overworked skeleton crews. In my opinion one well-running store with sufficient numbers of reps with high morale would be better than two or three with the opposite atmosphere. I would think if they had transitioned a few more stores with severance 6 mos ago, it would come out close to financially equivalent to paying those reps for the past 6 mos to be staying when they aren’t really happy being there. But I’m no executive so what do I know.

I always thought I’d be laid off before I left, but I think I have been proven wrong. Severance is no longer my beacon. There is a mission to minimize the stores, and there is a mission to get the tenured to leave. I’m tired of swimming against that current.

Looking forward to a job where I don’t feel I am becoming more insignificant by the day. We’re all worth more than that.

This is the pressure being applied by Verizon to tenured reps. Verizon is smart if you ask me think about it? Why would anyone want to stay around when your overwhelmed with customers. “Hey I’ve been waiting for over an hour I don’t care what you do for me from here on out or how polite you are your ris will have to pay.” Like it or not that’s the outlook now for Verizon it’s out with the old in with the new!

YESSS CORONAVIRUS!!

ahem

Listen, everyone. No big deal. It’s team commission but we are paying you a lot more base ok!
We really took care of you during the pandemic, didn’t we. You should be really grateful, a lot of people lost their jobs.

Any questions?

Why not permanently shut them down? Hurry up and get it over with Verlieson. It is very clear retail is not a priority anymore.

This is true and has already been happening at every store in my district. It will be worse once the hours change in July. We already told our DM and Director that we will be closing 1-2 days a week due to staffing and losing 2 more at the end of month. Their response is just “ok”

Maybe the executives can manage the door for us to free up someone to help customers. Or maybe they can specifically hire greeters again. That would be nice!

If Verizon retail stores can make it work with only a few reps on what makes you think their priority is to hire more people ? Oh you don’t like it ? Then quit and move on. They obviously saw the shortage of reps coming months ago and did nothing to plan ahead except that this was the plan. Get it ?

You spoke, we listened. Now your pay will be determined solely by how many quick tickets you can file. Now get back to work
