Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Outrageous metrics

I would like to see my boss meet the same expectations he expects from us, considering that he thinks that these are not unrealistic expectations at all, but that we are not doing our best. I would like to see him try and wonder if he would manage to meet even 20 % of those expectations... They are really detached from reality and do not understand that by creating this much pressure, they can only lose good workers that this company desperately needs.

10 percent, lol, were lucky if 2 percent stay, this company used to do background checks, dr-g screening, require a degree etc and we had people lining up for jobs, now we can't get anyone to apply, and if they do it's people that couldn't get a job at a car wash!! They used to tell us how many thousands of dollars it cost to onboard someone, between training, benefits and everything else , wouldn't it make sense to make your current employees happy so they'd stick around and do the same for new hires this company has been thinking backwards for years. What have all these rifs and cuts gotten us, $37 stock, and nothing left to cut. Everyone is sick of doing the jobs of 5 people, being expected to work overtime because we're short staffed, chastised about unattainable numbers, selling cr-p products nobody needs or wants and bitched at by customers because our service sucks and we keep adding fees to their bills. I feel like I'm working in ShangriLa !!

why just ignore that they targets are out of this world? So you can always just be in failure mode or could have done better mode? The biggest problem in Berizon is that no one will speak up to stupid ideas or stand up to their direct leadership when something is stupid. It's a bunch of unqualified yes men and women the higher you go up the ladder. It should have never even got to this point. ye there we are.

Keep in mind your manager did not set the targets. What are they supposed to say? 'We know these are B.S."?

Targets will always be high. Just do a good job.

The reps should just focus on their contribution report and metrics and just smile and nod your head in the affirmative when the managers talk about the multitude of other things on their ( swagger) reports. And thank you Management on instituting the$30 setup fee our ris surveys are at an a time low score . However, it is quite interesting seeing all the complaining and escalations when you tell them about the 35 dollars.

@1kmk+1jhqoi22 100% accurate comment. The people applying and the caliber of the applicants are so vastly different, might as well be on another planet. We have been hiring people with no job experience, as in they have never worked before. This is their first job. You can imagine how that goes while it lasts. Most don't make it pass training. The worse part as a leadership team we get hounded for numbers and performance when most of the people working here now I wouldn't trust with my dry cleaning. Their asking for way too much with this set up. They think people are really just going to get excited about selling stuff, to just sell stuff. I have no faith in the stock ever recovering if they can't even figure this simple thing out.

Yep, we are lucky if 10 percent of our new hires make it to 6 months, most are gone by the 3rd month, mostball say the money is not worth the stress from customers and the stupid metrics. The company needs to figure out that the lack of money and the stress of all the metrics is ki----g people. Big box stores are starting people at $20 an hr in our area , why would some 20 yrs old kid put up with this when they can go put light bulbs on the shelf at Costco or Lowes and make almost the same money, and probably have more room for advancement.

@ujh+1jhqoi22 you must not work in a store because there are more expectations now than ever and you don't even make nearly as much money for all those expectations. Reps have like 25 things they are scored on or talked about and same with management. The expectations are absolutely insane. Not sure about your area but our turn over with new hires should be a red flag in itself.

@ujh+1jhqoi22. True but back before team we had a much better opportunity to make a decent commission check. It’s definitely a legitimate arugument now. Pushing a narrative that went down when 2.0 came about. You can’t turn non sales people into hungry reps without incentivizing it and you can’t make the old 4K reps do the kind of work they use to put in. There are 3 reps in my store that do “ just enough “ to keep their jobs and are outspoken on how much better they could be doing if they were on individual commission. Verizon is ok with this ? It’s going on in every location.

expectations aren't that high....expectations were significantly higher before team commissions where you got coached just for not "discovering" in a certain way. Behavioral coachings were much more aggressive.

There are things to complain about with Verizon, but this isn't one of them
