Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Waiver to work!?!

So get this....the employees who’s stores were closed aren’t REQUIRED to work. Instead of any of them WANT to work they have to fill out this form to allow them to work. The reason behind it is so they don’t spread the the corona if they were to get it.

What’s the difference between them maybe getting it spreading it....or the 50ish customers that Visit my store and maybe spreading it to me and my co workers.

If we’re going to be open, fine I get it we gotta be open. We have customers who need to be connected. Totally understand that...But all employees should have to be there to service our customers not just some.

Why is the risk to some okay but others not solely because of the store we work in.

There are NO masks or gloves available! Even sanitizing products are on backorder till end of April! Do you even work at a store? You sound like an HR person comfortably "working" from home! Retail employees are having to run to bathroom to wash hands after each customer. Verizon only provided toilet sanitizing spray. People coughing up their lungs are coming in to reset their vm passwords and troubleshoot Facebook because they must stay up to date with the "most reliable source of news"

Of course there is a union post on here. There are many ways to work responsibly in a store.
Love what you said about locking the door- good idea.
Curbside pick up, or front door pick up where a mask and gloves.
Let's stop looking for something for nothing, and keep the union out of it.

I’d like to also add how sick and tired I am of hearing how much “they appreciate us” while they sit from home....how about you expose your a– to the same as us. How about Verizon open their checkbooks and shows how much they appreciate us because that’s all they care about is money.

The store could run with 1 manager 1 rep. Giving pretty much everyone 5-6 days off a week. Let a customer in, lock the door, let the customer leave, let the next one in, repeat. If it’s a matter of life and death they will wait! Especially if it’s the phone isn’t working. We’re still open for our customers....all while reducing risk greatly.

I suspect managers are being forced to work because they can't unionize. Another shady move by Verizon. Losing any remnants of respect for this company.

If this is true. You get a good lawyer they can spin this as Verizon knew it was unsafe and you as a working employee did not sign anything at the same time they were making others sign something to wave legal liability.
